So i climbed in the stand at 4:30 today.. about twenty minutes before dark a nice doe walks out.. the closest shot i could get on her was 45 yards so i took it.. i heard the SCHWACK! of the arrow drillin her then she jumps and takes off into the woods.. well twenty minutes later i get down to trail her.. i found ZERO blood but found the arrow in the woods with my broadhead broken in half halfway to the arrow.. the broadhead was coated with blood though.. what the heck do you think happened?

What  kind of broadhead.

shockwave three blade expandable.. not the best out there but hey im a college student so i dont have the money for these rage or grim reapers.. what we think happened with this deer is i must have hit a leg or somethin in the bone and at 45 yards maybe my arrow didnt have the speed to penetrate deep enough.  we think she took off with the arrow in the woods with just the broadhead in her, caught the arrow on a tree and broke it off.. not sure though, went out and checked this morning and still found no blood and no deer

100 grain muzzy or thunderheads an put them expandables up.  You said yourself your were just getting into this, expandables an bone dont get along.  Yes some will on occasion break bone but usually its the broadhead.

 A buddy of mine just got into bow hunting this year.  He shot a nice buck down the other day but got out and pushed it too quick and we lost the blood and never found the deer.  If it was an expandable and you hit bone... more than likely its just a flesh wound and she'll be fine

thanks but i will never shoot muzzies... i'll shoot thunderheads all day long but a buddy of mine who's sponsored by hoyt was shootin muzzies.. i was watchin him shoot at a target and them things dont fly worth a crap

If I muzzy wasnt flying right, I would begin to guess that his bow needed paper tuning. 

maybe so.. who knows, but i got some 100 grain thunderheads today so i'm ready now
