Favorite Pizza

What company makes your favorite pizza? It can be a local place or a national chain.

Dave's Dark Horse Tavern and Stromboli's are the best in Starkville.

Pizza Shack in Jackson and Ridgeland is really good.  Their BBQ chicken pizza is hard to beat

The BBQ pulled pork pizza at either the Lost Pizza Co. in Tupelo or the Pizza Shack in Jackson. Can't miss with either places.

I've heard great things about this Lost Pizza Co. and still haven't tried it. I need to check that one off the list next time I'm in Tupelo.

You can't go wrong with it waterboy. They have some great wings, the fried ravioli is some of the best I've ever had and they have two pizzas that I could eat every day. The Pit Boss is the BBQ one and then they have a bacon cheeseburger pizza that is freaking incredible. They have a meatlovers which I think is called The Kujo(or something like that) which isn't bad either.

Dave's has great pizza. Old Venice is very good but not great.

As far as national chains go, I'd probably pick Papa John's Hawaiian BBQ Chicken pizza. I prefer Pizza Hut's crust, though, as it's a little sweeter (plus, I love stuffed crust).

I'm convinced that The Walter Payton from Dave's Darkhorse is the best pizza ever. Pizza Hut or Papa John's for national chain and Red Baron for frozen pizza.

Lost Pizza. When I was at MDCC the owners were talking about starting it and asking us if we thought a pizza and beer place would work in a town like Indianola. We said absolutely. They've done really well. Only been to two of the locations.

I get the Lucille.

RE: Favorite Pizza

Is Lost Pizza and Lost Dog Pizza the same? A place opened in Cleveland, MS called Lost Dog Pizza on the tail end of my co-op. Pretty good pizza.  I seemed to remember them having a pizza called the Lucille (SP?)

Yea it's the same thing Spidey. Some call it Lost Pizza and some call it Lost Dog. The Lucille is the grilled chicken with bacon and has ranch dressing as the sauce.

On the scale of national chain Papa John's hands down then Domino's (Pepperoni thin crust). I don't really care for Pizza Hut.

I Haven't tried any local yet.

Yup, that's the one. Really glad that place opened up so late into my time up there. I would've gained a few pounds otherwise.

RE: Favorite Pizza

It was Lost Dog, and then they found out someone else had the name and had to change it. It's still hard for me to not say Lost Dog, but I try to when talking to people that haven't been so it's not confusing.

Re: Favorite Pizza

Chain was Godfathers. I suppose they still exist somewhere, but nowhere near me.

Favorite place of all time was the restaurant off the lobby of Casino Magic in Biloxi. They made brick oven pizzas and one of their specialties was Pizza Bienville - shrimp, crabmeat and onions with a white sauce instead of tomato. Since Katrina, I imagine the only place that serves those is Heaven.

Favorite place right now is New York Pizza Department in downtown Albuquerque. But I usually get the calzone rather than the pizza. (I do occasionally wonder if there's a New Mexico Pizza Department in New York City.)

BTW, I usually order a "Supreme" or its equivalent, but in the absence of Pizza Bienville my favorite toppings are ham and mushrooms.

Best pizza I ever had was when I lived in DC this summer. It's called We The Pizza and was owned by some guy that was on Top Chef. I ate it at least once a week

RE: Favorite Pizza

My favorite pizza chain is The Mellow Mushroom. One opened in Hattiesburg right before I moved. It seemed like such a cruel joke. I assume it's still there.

Of the major chains, Papa John's is easily my favorite.
