Ocean Springs Hospitality???
Last night, decided to take in the 9th grade Pascagoula/OS baseball game. In the 1st inning, we were all sitting in the stands behind home plate when we were told we had to leave that "reserved" section and move to one of the side stands.
Now folks, we are talking about a 9th GRADE BASEBALL game. When we left the cozy confines behind home plate, there were about a half dozen "OS Reserve Seat" fans left in the section. I could understand that if the stands were packed for a big district varsity game, and there were tons of fans there, then we should move. BUT THERE WAS HARDLY ANYONE THERE! And if a reserve seat "owner" came up and wanted his or her seat, OK we need to definately move. But again, there was noone there! After we left the section, they even roped off the seats!
I can't believe that we were told to leave by a gentleman who was either the booster club president or the athletic director. If he was the booster club president then he has a big time Napolean complex; if he was the AD, it was even worse because he was guilty of stupidity and arrogance and rude behavior.
After the game I spoke with an "OS Reserve Seat" ticket holder and he said that they paid more than $100 for these seats. I guess that explains why there were no OS fans in those seats. He also said that even if they did have Reserve Seats, they still had to pay to see the 9th grade game. UNBELIEVABLE.
And let us not forget that OS charges a dollar more for the priviledge to see these games than we do in Pascagoula. Yet another example of the famed Ocean Springs Hospitality.
Don't get me wrong, these were nice seats -- plastic, with arm rests and a back. But they weren't padded seats, they didn't have cup holders, no heated seats or covered air conditioning to help fight off the gnats and there was no concierge service offering drinks and snacks (ala NBA games or NFL "Licensed Seats). For us to get kicked out, you'd think that they would have all of these premium features.
I have played with and against OS Players. I have coached with and against OS players. The Hounds have always been respectful, with little trash talk and played hard. On the other hand the academic and athletic departments have always looked down on everyone else on the coast and this is just another example.
Has anyone else enjoyed this type of OS hospitality, or is it just reserved for Panthers?
OS get with it and treat your guests with a little more class. Otherwise, the Panthers will make all the seats in Pascagoula "reserved" and you'll have to stand outside the fences to watch 9th graders play ball.

RE: Ocean Springs Hospitality???
Where the seats were located, the condition of them, the amenities surrounding them, etc. has no bearing on what they are - reserved seating. People pay a premium for those seats, therefore, they belong to their rear-ends alone.
We have reserved seating at Columbus and people pay extra for the rights. They (or their guests with ticket) are to be the only ones in them. Otherwise, why ask for the premium? It defeats the purpose of added revenue. If you want the priviledge (and it is one) to sit where you want, and if that spot is a premium area, then pay the extra and you can sit there when you want to. Nothing chaps a person who did pay for the priviledge more than having someone who didn't pay for the right (especially visiting fans) to enter and enjoy that area.
"Who are you?" "I'm the player to be named later."

I'm sorry that you experienced something like this. You must have just ran in to a really crabby person or someone who was just a little power hungry We do not treat opposing fans like this in Greyhound country. To my knowledge, we always do our best to roll out the red carpet for our guests

RE: Ocean Springs Hospitality???
Not the AD! The AD is 6'6" 220 and not a confrontational type of guy.
I am sorry someone was rude to you. I know we try our best to be welcoming around here. With that being said, Those seats are reserved seats for a reason. When someone pays top dollar for reserved seating, the seat belongs to them.

RE: Ocean Springs Hospitality???
I was there earlier this soccer season and I was very cold. I didn't appreciate that kind of weather. You Greyhounds should look into a climate controlled athletic facility or I'm not coming back much more. AND I am spreading the word: Ocean Springs orders bad weather for visitors.

RE: Ocean Springs Hospitality???
Well-played sir, I must constantly resist the urge to do what you just did. Words and grammar matter, and you play as you practice. If one is semi-literate in postings here, it speaks to their overall education, motivation and work ethic. Anything worth doing is worth doing well.
Aside: Why and how the heck does someone want to troll around on this forum and jumpstart this moribund and not particularly engaging thread?
