Anyone else hearing that the Holmes football bunch got canned?

Fired. All of them except the strenght coach.

any word on who is getting job?

they let eeryone go. no word on the new coach yet. but the rumor is there were close to 30 aplicants and some from higher college levels

do they need any linebackers

Unless it's been in the last couple of days, they haven't hired anybody. I talked to a close relative of one of the assistants on Thursday, and they don't know anything yet.

dont take my word for it but i heard they hired Jeff Koonz. He is coming from Georgia Southern. He was a assistant there. He has been an assistant at LA Tech and Iowa State under Gene Chizik. Just a rumor though. No comformation

i believe it is jeff sr. he would be leaving Georgia Southern. He was a coach at Holmes for 8 years in the 90s so he has ties with the school already

He'll be leaving Georgia Military, I think.

footballscoop.com is reporting that Jeff Koonz has been named HC at Holmes.
They don't say whether Jr. or Sr., just that he comes from Georgia Military Institute.

Holmes Community College: Running backs / linebackers coach Wade Henderson has resigned to become the head coach / AD at Brookhaven High School (MS).

Did he coache runningback and linebackers at the same time?

Kyle Koets named the Offensive Line coach.

Holmes Community College: The new hires include former Bryant University offensive coordinator Mike McCarty (offensive coordinator), former Rhodes College defensive coordinator / head strength coach Terry Ursin (special teams / strength coach), former Alabama wide receiver Carlos Andrews (wide receivers), former Iowa State grad assistant Floyd White (defensive backs / special teams), former Arkansas Tech grad assistant Kyle Koets (offensive line), and former Mississippi College player Jesse Ward (running backs).

Football squad holds a 2.927719 GPA during second summer term

Forty-five Holmes Community College Holmes Community College football players held a team 2.927719 GPA during the second term of summer school on the Goodman Campus.

Of the 121 classes, players had 28 As, 54 Bs and 38 Cs.

The coaching staff has implemented the F.A.S.T. (Football Accountability and Scholastic Training) program for the team. The F.A.S.T. shows the football program has a major interest in seeing that the team excels in the classroom first as well as on the field.

“We are very proud of the success the guys achieved during summer school,” Holmes Head Football Coach Jeff Koonz said. “I am also proud of the coaching staff on the implementation of the F.A.S.T. program and seeing the guys through it the first time.”
