RE: Russell vs wallace
So...what's Wallace's stats in the 6 wins versus the 6 losses? And, is Arkansas not counted as a bad team just because they were after game 7? Spin it.

RE: Russell vs wallace
Since we're talking about Bo vs Russell in this thread...here's my reasoning for liking Bo's potential more.
Tyler never made his team competitive in any game against a team that was halfway decent or better. I'm still completely not sold on Russell being "that guy"...
With Wallace we talk about "he turned the ball over alot"...that's true, some weren't his fault, some were. But he can improve that area. It's other things he did though, that were just flat out better than Russell. He made us competitive.
He threw 2 INTs to Texas A&M....he also had 326 total yards and 2 touchdowns, and it took a heisman performance to beat us. A top 10 team (lost by 3).
He threw 2 INTs to Miss. State....he also had 334 total yards and 5 touchdowns... blowout win
He threw 3 INTs to LSU...he also had 364 total yards and 4 touchdowns in a game we had won. Top 10 team on the road (lost by 6).
He didn't turn it over against Vandy...our defense just imploded. But he had 407 total yards and 2 touchdowns and we should've won that against a 9 win team (lost by 1).
I'll say the Texas game is the only big game I can truly say I sat back and thought Bo did nothing for us. He led a 2-10 team to be extremely competitive in those hard games this year.
State wasn't competitive at all in their real games. At all. That's why I put Bo above Tyler in my prediction for next season.

RE: Russell vs wallace
This is all silly arguing over nothing.
Russell and Wallace met one time on the field. Wallace's team won easily.
That settles the argument until next November.

RE: Russell vs wallace
Ain't even going to lie... Wallace is a better QB. Russel is a better passer, but Wallace is not a bad passer, plus he can run, he is tougher, and he has more intensity and fire than russell. Wallace is a gamer, Russell is not.

RE: Russell vs wallace
I think we also need to take into account the WR and OL groups for both teams. Bumphis was our best receiver and he might turn out to be a decent possession receiver in the NFL. Moncrief is OM's best and most believe he can be a great receiver in the NFL. There's that. Gabe Jackson is probably better than any single lineman OM has, but OM's line as a whole is probably better than State's. There's that. Oh, also, OM didn't have the "luxury" of Chris Wilson running their defense and misuse so much talent on the back end. So, there's that, too.

So you're saying that if Tyler had played for Ole Miss this year he would have been the better QB?

Re: Russell vs wallace
Ole Miss's O-line definitely improved over the course of the year, but we were still starting a guy who couldn't beat out Bradley Sowell for 3 years.

That wasn't a Heisman performance by Manziel that day (2 INTs and one fumble). Unless you were talking about Ben Malena's 150 yards rushing. Oh, that's right, OM fans don't consider turnovers an actual stat. Go ahead, Jay, don't hurt that one finger with your response.

A lot of people believe Russell was the better QB (barring the Gator Bowl). His numbers are better than Wallace's according to the NFL's QB rating system but are worse according to the NCAA's system. I think, all told, Wallace was dealt a better hand on offense sans Perkins and co. Bumphis proved to be a very good college receiver and may be able to do the same in the NFL, but I think we all can agree Moncrief's ceiling is probably quite a bit higher.

Re: Russell vs wallace
Tyler had today what we call rust. Bo Wallace has to be careful of the same thing in the Compass Bowl because he, like Tyler, did not get many practice reps during bowl preparation while healing from an injury.
