This is just utterly ridiculous to NAME, much less PICK these teams before the first week of the season! Unless, of course you call them the 2011 All Star team. I think it affects players who were not chosen and players that were chosen as well.  Some that now feel they don't have a chance to be an All Star and the others trying to live up to being an All Star! Just my opinion on what I feel needs to be revamped. By the way, I do congratulate every girl and coach on the teams and also MAC for choosing another site for the game! This is a terrible way to "Pre Select ALL-Stars". What if you have a SR that plays the best season of her life this year and then she gets told, "Oh well, sorry. ALL-STARS were picked back in February. Better luck next year. Oh wait."

Yeah, this sucks for the girls who may shine this season. Also for Coaches who may have a great season.

After this year there will no longer be a senior fastpitch game so no senior will be an all-star.....besides I'm sure it's based more on their body of work rather than a person who has one good year.
Secondly these players have to sell ads and collect the money then they have to mail these ads in then the people that work at the MAC have to sort through all these ads and make sure they get all this correct before they send it off to the printers for the printers to print the ad books and get them back in time for the all-star games.  That's 48 girls plus 8 coaches just for the senior games this year to go along with 24 more juniors......Now there are ONLY 2 ladies at the MAC office that handle ALL of this......oh yeah I forgot that they also deal with tennis(boys and girls), soccer(boys and girls), and volleyball during this time as well along with doing all the membership renewals and getting all the information taken and set up for the MAC coaching clinic held in July.

As far the coaches are concerned there are guidelines they are set up for them and you can view those at the MAC website.

Is it a little flawed YES but just like all of us have deadlines we have to meet with things at our work I'm sure there are deadlines that they have to meet as well.

So for the honor of being selected as an All-Star, you have to sell ads for their program? Congratulations to the Girls that were selected! I believe though that there should be a better way of doing things toward the end of the season. I can also name a dozen girls that are just as talented that were left off of these rosters.

To answer your question...Yes that's how the MAC pays for their meals, dorm rooms, and t-shirts.  Plus they recieve a percentage of the money in return for what they sell over their allotted amount.

As every year there are a dozen or so girls just as talented that get left off.  For them I am truly sorry!  It's hard to play 12 girls in 14 innings and everyone get to play at least 7 innings and everyone start a game.  So imagine what that would be like with 18 on a roster?

But if baseball hasn't already they are about to pick there All-stars as well

I would like to say CONGRATULATIONS     to all the girls who are on these teams and the schools they represent.  I wish all of you the best of luck and injury free season.
I just don't understand why we as adults have to bring out what we "think is wrong and not right".  All things in life are not going to be "just like we think they should be" but to make the negative comments is just not appropriate on this forum subject.   Remember in the game of life we don't always get to be on the all-star team, but what we do in life is step up to the plate and make the best of what is thrown to us.
The ladies that have made this team have put a lot of hard work and effort in their fastpitch game and spent numerous hours practicing to be a better player.  For those who didn't make this team, yes maybe you are just as good and you have worked just as hard, but don't stop doing what make you a great player also. 
Always keep a positive attitude, you will need it in the game of fastpitch but most of all in the game of life.
For those who want to point out what needs to be corrected -- think about having your own forum subject titled----COMPLAINTS against MAC or however you would like to title it. 
I would like to say again -- CONGRATULATIONS to all the fastpitch players of Mississippi--keep working hard and moving Mississippi up the line-up for all colleges to recognize and want on their teams!!!!!!

I didn't really see anyone being negative toward the players that were picked, actually the opposite everyone has congratulated them.  As it should be.  The question I see raised is how do you pick a 2012 all star team before the season starts.  All star teams will always leave deserving players left off, that's the nature of the beast.  It's also a good sign that we have that much talent across the state.

I didn't see any negative about the girls. I'm happy for all of them. I just don't agree with how they make the picks in February. Younggun made me see the business side of this All-Star game. I understand that this should be based on an entire career of HS play. Yes, there are flaws in every situation of everything on this planet. If people can't express their "likes" and "dislikes" about these flaws..... why have a forum?

My point is that when this comes out this early, it is disheartening to the girls who have only started 2 years, for example. And no, my daughter is not a Senior. So I have no dog in this race. My defense is for those other senior girls.

If this selection is based off of a career of HS play, then don't call it a "Senior" All-Star game or a "Junior" All-Star game. Every All-Star game in sports is based off of "How Good you play THAT year", not "How good you have done since you have been playing" or "How good we think you are going to play". I'm not saying that the 24 girls picked don't deserve to be there; because I feel sure without a doubt that after the season is over 99% of them would be in the game anyway. I'm thinking about the girl(s) that fall into the 1%. JMO

The coaches are responsable for submitting the nominees for these teams.It's always been done this way. They have deadlines to meet. I dont like it either and I have a daughter on the senior team.

I understand that coaches have deadlines .. ... Seems like teams  should  play half the season before players are chosen by the coaches .. They might as well go ahead and pick the 2012 Slow-Pitch All - Star  Players before the season starts ... one less thing they would have to do in the fall !!!
