Quinn Ford?

Quinn Ford?

Does anyone know what happened to Quinn Ford? She was terrific at Pontotoc last year and their championship game against FCAHS was one of the best games of the tournament. She signed with Ole Miss but isn't on their roster. Was curious if it was academics or personal and where she wound up.

Re: Quinn Ford?

Thanks for the information. I figured it was academic related but was curious as to what went down. There have been too many great athletes in high school who simply can't get it together to graduate or become eligible to play college sports. There have been too many cases of this.

You are right, these children need to be held accountable for their academic progression, and these schools and coaches should be held as well.

It was made known that they wanted the girl at Pontotoc just for basketball and kept her eligible just to play. After they won the championship they could care less what that child did. When questions came up about her being there just for athletics, the coach and school administrators said it was for academics, but they never help the child get on track.

MHSAA should look into Pontotoc having to forfeit their championship to Forrest County AHS for playing an academic ineligible player.

They brought down the hammer on Piney Woods.

She wasn't academically ineligible while she was playing.  The grades don't come out until the end of the year.

I think Pontotoc did above and beyond to assist her to get eligible for the next level / however she was so far behind and didn't have a whole lot support . Her mother moved back to okolona at some point and she was on her on with not much support from family .

Re: Quinn Ford?

How can you hold Coaches accountable for students academic progression  Todays athlete are wiser but their weaker they can't take discipline There are some many athletes being offer scholarships and can't qualify for them for three reasons 1. GPA 2. ACT 3. State Tests
Please explain how a coach can be held accountable for any of those 3   CougarTime Please explain this

It amazes me that people will make statements when they have no idea what they are talking about. Nobody knows but the people in Pontotoc how much effort was given to give the Ford kid an opportunity for an education. Especially after season. There was no evil intent or persuasion toward her. If you don't know the situation maybe you should keep your mouth shut. If Forrest County wants a State Championship tell them to be in Jackson in March. That's how you get one.

CougarTime = Cougar = A South Pontotoc supporter?

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that grades have to done by semester, not at the end of the year. If she wasn't eligible at Christmas, she wouldn't have been playing.

If I remember correctly, Forrest County had some players that were not able to go play basketball above the community college level because of academic issues.  Man, those glass houses just don't stand up.
