Santa Fe @ Angleton
Angleton 28-0 at the half. Just too much speed for the Indians to handle. Offense is not getting nowhere the angleton defense is playing real good

Re: Santa Fe @ Angleton
Sante Fe's Walton had opening runs of 20 and 14, accounting for the only two first downs the Indians had in the first half. The Indians had 20 total yards against the swarming Cat defense in that opening half. Quandre Diggs busted off 112 yards on 10 carries and scored from two yards out rushing and then scored early in the third quarter on a 26-yard pass from Henry Josey. Josey, another speedster for the Cats, had 103 yards on seven carries, including touchdown romps of 10 and 29 yards. Josey carried the ball twice and Diggs once in the second half as Angleton unloaded its youngsters on the outmanned Indians. Sante Fe's Walton closed with 42 yards on 10 carries. Sante Fe produced 140 of its 173 total yards in the fourth quarter, including 111 yards by sub Jacob Morse, who scored meaningless touchdowns from 12 and 3 yards out. Sante Fe's Davidson failed to complete a pass for the game as the swarming Cat defense dropped him behind the line 11 times...

Re: Santa Fe @ Angleton
Angleton completely dominated the Indians. I Coach Vanover didn't empty the bench in the 3rd, it really could have been 50-0. Now after next week, Angleton looks like they get a 1st round matchup with Rosenberg Terry. I saw some of their scouts at the game last night. Also, having secured the district title, do the Cats try to go for the undefeated record next week against a tough Manvel team that still has a shot at the playoffs or rest their starters? I remember last year Angleton beating Manvel on the last game, but lost Henry Josey to injury in that game and didn't have him till the 3rd round.

Re: Santa Fe @ Angleton
You can bet they won't rest any starters unless they get ahead. You don't get a chance to go 10-0 very often and Manvel is playing as good right now as any district opponent they've faced. Unfortunately, I assume they won't have one of the defensive starters, who was injured playing RB in mop-up duty.

I saw that Webster Jones was injured on that run. Do you know what his injury is?

Looked like an ankle, but I don't know what the prognosis is. I saw they rolled him out before the end of the game.

Web broke his ankle, he's in good spirits, he knows he has two more years to play. But, Web is a determined athlete, I guarantee he will make every effort to have a speedy recovery to help the Wildcats complete this season.

Re: Santa Fe @ Angleton
Let me tell ya'll that Angleton rocks. I met over the weekend a few linebackers and linemen of 2011 and they are good kids and knowlegable high schoo footballl players. Altought Angleton has an easy route to the class D-2 4-A title, they have a verrry good coaching staff, and a verry good group of kids. I hope that they continue to do well. They are very taletend and respectable kids. Good luck Angleton, you deserve the to win.

Even in region 3, Div 2, there are some teams that are really good, in particular I'm thinking about Brenham and El Campo. There will be no cruising to the state crown just because It's Div 2. The kids do have the right attitude and work very hard to get better. Coach Vanover has mentioned it repeatedly.

Re: Santa Fe @ Angleton
Speaking with them they mention that their fans don't think thank they have a good HC and staff. However, I told them that most fans question the HC and just believe me that they have a good staff top to bottom. Most schools would trade for their HC. The state ranking in class 4-A mostly consist of D-1 teams.

Re: Santa Fe @ Angleton
I'm not sure that's right. That might be the kid's perspective, and they may listen to some parents gripe and complain - I'm sure that goes on...but I think, by and large the Angleton fans love their coach and the coaching staff and believe that they are leading this team well. As you said, everyone hollers things about the coach - but when it all boils down, we know they're just great.

Re: Santa Fe @ Angleton
I think Angleton fans love their coaches when they are winning. But history shows us that they have been pretty cruel to the one's who were diagnosed as underachievers. Of course it is pretty much like that everywhere these days... CATFANSUE wrote: I'm not sure that's right. Re: Santa Fe @ Angleton
IMO; most fans love the coach when the team is winning. Let him lose a few in a row and see what they say about him, let him get blasted in the first round of the playoffs this year and then come back to see what they are saying. If A-ton lose in the first round against Foster, the way it looks, they will call for Vanover's head whether justified or not.

Re: Santa Fe @ Angleton
I think the Wildcats fans are loving them right now, I went to Angleton this weekend just to see what the pulse felt like, and you see Wildcat Paw Prints everywhere. I even notice at the Sante Fe game there were a lot of surrounding area families attending that I knew. They are the talk of the town and actually the whole Brazosport area right now in 4A, but like you said they are known to be hard on the coaches and player once they lose. I don't live in Angleton but I have become a Cat fan after watching a few games this year, they will be a very difficult team to knock out of regional play, and who ever does will have to have there A-Game rockin!

Re: Santa Fe @ Angleton
What was a starter at DE doing playing mop-up duty as RB? There are over 1,800 kids that attend Angleton High School and the coach should have put one of them in at RB instead of risking one of his starters on defense. To me that's just dumb.

Re: Santa Fe @ Angleton
Yeah I was thinking why Webster Jones was in there at RB. Now I guess with a broken ankle, he's out for the rest of the year. Who will step in for Jones now? Rodney Hall? Maybe move Tony Crane back to linebacker from his DE spot and put Monroe at DE?
