Mike Miller and the Air Force

Mike Miller and the Air Force

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you in the wrestling community that helped Mike during his wrestling career, unfortunately his senior year ended with an injury, however we met some good freinds during his time wrestling in Florida. Mike had already enlisted in the Air Force before his senoir year so he has already gone through basic training and is currently training to be a crew cheif on B-52's. Mike found that basic training was not very difficult after the years of wrestling practices...One of the young men going through basic with mike said this is hell,to which mike responded "this is nothing, my wrestling coach was "satan" (their pet name for their coaches)...I'm very proud of Mike for choosing to serve our country..so much of it started with you all who have spent countless hours volunteering and supporting this sport...thanks again to our wrestling community

Mr. Miller,

if Mike's injury is no longer bothering him which Im guessing it's not since he made it through basic training easily let him know that there is an All-Air Force wrestling team if he doesent already know about it.  Their Coach, Coach Estrella is a great guy who has actually been a coach on more than one Olympic team.  They wrestle mainly Greco, but if he's interested and wants to get ahold of the coach let me know and I'll give you his e-mail....

Re: Mike Miller and the Air Force

aaahhhh yes... "Ohio."  Mike Miller, a transfer who WORKED for everything he earned.  Finished as a state placer as a junior after summer of whining through Freestyle and Greco!

Nonetheless, he was with me every weekend and worked out at club, plus individual 'sunday' workouts!  We at Orange Park are happy that Mike is serving our country!  Too bad he got stationed in North Dakota! He always said he hated the Florida heat!

Re: Mike Miller and the Air Force

Brandon....a special thanks to you for all the endless hours you spent with Mike, especially when it came to training for Freestyle and Greco(his two favorite styles in the whole worldwink ). who knew that it would only take a broomstick or two to get him to get it right. You'll be happy to know that he ended up being stationed in Louisiana..so much for getting away from the heat ...ha ha. It looks like he'll be home for the holidays so expect a visit or two.

                                                                                                                             Thanks Again, Matt

I too would like to thank Mike for serving our country. Luke and I hope all the best for him. We miss his goofy way of making you laugh in the wrestling room but not the smells. LOL. Good Luck and God bless

Re: Mike Miller and the Air Force

If there is one thing that you can count on with Mike is his sense of humor...and as for the smells it could have been the "blazing" wing races we used to have at BW3's.
