AA state championships.

AA state championships.

Moss won it. I think he was definitely was the best 220 in AA. The Lovett kid was beat when he stepped on the mat but he had a good tournament. Sampson also won along with the other usual suspects. Bremen and Jefferson still head and shoulders above the rest with Jefferson being the man still.

What happened with Erdoes

Brackets show he was DQ'd?

Re: AA state championships.

Lovett had a solid third until the weird cursing call and DQ/ "flagrant misconduct" of Erdoes in the finals. With the clock bad in the first match and fan drama leading up to 182, the refs were under a lot of pressure. Erdoes cursed when the ref stopped the match twice as he was about to turn his oppnent and his opponent spit out blood onto the mat. When called for unsportsman like, he could not believe it and said "this is bull ****". Understandable- we are all frustrated when we think someone is working injury time- but wrong reaction. The refs made the call to re-establish control and it went downhill from there. Lovett had a very bad second day with Lee losing in the semis in the last seconds and then falling to 6th. This does not reflect the quality of the program or the kids.

Wow, in the finals and he was DQ'd for that?

I've enjoyed watching Erdoes over the years. He's a great kid and I hate that his last highschool match ended that way.

Re: AA state championships.

GL3 you guys did a great job I heard you would have had 4 in the finals had it not been for the bone headed mistake by Lee, I did notice by looking over the bracket that two kids had state championships handed to them , one in AAA and one in AA both at 182 now its not the kids fault they won that way but officials should always take into account the consequence that comes with their calls as well situation are always different Erdoes could have been warned and then a point taken and a team point taken DQ that's pretty harsh in the state finals , especially over words with no punches , I saw kids shove other kids throw cheap elbows and even do dirty boxing but not get DQ . They robbed Erdoes and he is obviously the best 182 in the state at AA but you and I know when you have Jefferson across your singlets you will be the beneficiary of biased officiating that's just the way it is. It happens and we all know it. But great job Lovett wish our wrestling team was more like yalls or maybe just our head coach was more like yalls.

RE: AA state championships.

i know the ref who called that match...he is not a jefferson apologist. it is never "understandable" to act the way erdoes did. the first issue was when erdoes said "get the f*** off me" to the wrestler...then when he was given a misconduct for that, he then said "this is ********"...so to say it was because the kid was from jefferson is ridiculous. erdoes was losing 7-2 when that happened. he is responsible for this actions.

Re: AA state championships.

Congratulations Jace McColskey for your championship did not say anything about you derogatory at all. Just the officiating which was terrible, And you guys should thinks so too its not that you won its that the officials didn't give Erdoes the chance to win and that's awful , I have no complaints about you just the officials . I will say when my own resume and high school accomplishments out weighs yours then you should be careful about bragging on what you have accomplished.

Before anyone discredits Jace's VICTORY, please go to the GHSA.net website and you can view the entire match. What you will see are several questionable crossfaces by Lovett to the head and face area. Questionable to me, but obviously legal in the refs opinion. The result of these crossfaces opened lacerations inside Jace's mouth. I know this kid and he would NEVER FAKE AN INJURY to gain an advantage on an opponent. In this particular match, Jace completely controlled Erdoes throughout as the 7-2 score (with less than one minute remaining in the 3rd period) clearly reflects. When the unfortunate display of flagrant unsportsmanship occurred, Jace was in control, and the blood time that was called was actually Erdoes bleeding. The video clearly shows the score table had started the blood time against Red but then was changed to Green. So Stinger before you start bashing a kid on here for the rewards of his hard work, you need to get your facts straight.

Re: AA state championships.

I am not Jace's Dad nor am I related to him. I am an alumni and fan of Jefferson. I have watched Jace grow up and become a fine young man in addition to all of the athletic accomplishments that I listed.

When people like you complain about the referees, it tarnishes the championship won by kids. If you have a beef with the officials, call the GHSA. Don't get on some message board under some alias and moan and groan.

Re: AA state championships.

My question was what happened with Erdoes? Nothing about him being cheated. It is sad when the officials dictate the outcome of a finals match. Congrats to Jace and to all kids who even placed at state.

Jace has a very impressive résumé that he should be proud of. But to say "you better learn to love it"? Really? I bet AAA Champ would love to show him the pretty lights when he's on his back looking at them. Of course Ness might decide to put 15 on him. Also you failed to mention the 8 losses Jace had this year! Another words he's not perfect so I don't need to "love it"!

What happened on the AAA 182 match that warrants you to say he was handed the championship? I just find it hard to believe that this particular wrestler was handed anything.

ness would have won either way.  ross from morgan was winning 10-1 in the semis when he was dq'd.  i am certain this is what stinger is talking about.

Re: AA state championships.

Earholed...
Jace's 8 losses

4 to the North Gwinnett athlete: 1 in OT, other three by 3 pts or less. (placed 3rd in 6A state)
2 to the Morgan County athlete: both very close matches. (would have been in finals with Ness if no DQ)
2 at The Clash in Minnesota (which Jace ended up 4-2 with 4 pins).
(one to Brandon, FL and one to Vacaville, CA).

Re: AA state championships.

earholed, how are your comments about McCloskey not "gutless"?  you are belittling a kid's accomplishments?

the only way the official dictated the outcome of the match was by rightfully tossing him after two disrespectful outbursts...for someone who is concerned about "what is wrong with wrestling", surely you cannot condone erdoes' behavior.

also, i will ask you the same question.  did you confront the official yesterday?  or did you resort to coming to a public forum to question a man's character and integrity?  that irony is crazy, huh?

Not questioning Jace's ability. He's a stud and the Dragon nation should be proud. You just hate to hear a match end this way.

if left up to the ref............

No matter what your personal opinion is of the ref, how he enforced his ruling or how good you think the losing kid is. One fact that's missed here is the most important.

Never, NEVER put the ref in the position to make a call that affects the outcome or dq you. Wrestling is about leaving it on the mat, giving 110% for that day and living with the result, not showing frustration punctuated with the type of language most would get a taste of dish soap for. Wrestle hard, but in the rules (i would say both kids were doing this). The tipping point is the repeated language used in frustration. The flagrant misconduct call alone didn't get him ejected it was the words after and after that did. (Kudos to the coach for seeing this and getting him out of there as nothing good was to come from more of that) Any athlete should know better than to do this. Had the loser not cursed repeatedly he probably would have had that last minute + to "state his case".

Re: AA state championships.

He was not talking about about Ness's ability...but to the fact that in the semi final Austin Ross from Morgan Co. Leading in the 3rd period  11-2 against a kid from Dawson was DQ when the ref determined he brought the Dawson kid down to the mat with control too hard.  The wrestler was getting up when his coach came over and told him to stay down.  Keeping him down until injury time had run out allowed the ref to DQ Ross and crush his dream of a state championship in his senior year after finishing 2nd last year... Amazingly the Dawson kid appeared less than 18 hours later to compete in the finals..only to be completely overwhilmed by Ness...
Hey Dawson coach,, was that that 2nd place medal worth it....because that 3rd place one that Ross got was tarnished with blatent, greedy, win at all cost bad sportsmanship. (ALSO,  TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE CALL REF)

Re: AA state championships.

I was just giving praise to Moss for overcoming a lot of things these other kids don't go through and winning a state title. I didn't mean to start all this. But just for the heck of it, I was their and asked some of the other fans their, both Lovett and Jefferson, what happened in the 182 match and they said the Lovett kid bit the Jefferson kid and that is why he got dqued.
