Greenbrier vs Marist = best match up ... I take Greenbrier in 3 ... GB 7-3 , Marist 2-1 , GB 12-3

DAWC1 are you being sarcastic? Greenbrier will dominate Marist this year. eek

Look for Greenbrier at John's Creek high school on May 26th. Will be a war cool

RE: Elite 8 Matchups

If the Greenbrier / John's Creek matchup works out, we are actually taking a van with several of the WC players up to watch that matchup, should be the series of the season.

Re: Elite 8 Matchups

The Marist coaches & team are voting now whether to make the drive because Greenbrier is according to you
"so dominate". rolleyes

Look for the Blue & Gold to be at Greenbrier playing scrappy, no-quit baseball.

May the best team win. That's why they play the games.

Good luck to Greenbrier & all the remaining teams.

And keep countin them chickens before they hatch. My Grandad used to say, "It's a peculiar folk that prefers the breakfast egg over a fine Sunday fried chicken..."

And good luck to you with the democratic process of determining whether to make the drive.

I have much respect for Marist, but ya'll probably ain't leaving Evans with a win.

Both Marist and Greenbrier are very good teams, that why they play the game and yes, Marist will drive to Evans and play the Game.

Save the gas the run was good but is over. Remember the 2007 finals Greenbrier destroyed Marist both games. This feels alot like that year. Marist is in rebuild mode and had two great draws or would be home right now.

Re: Elite 8 Matchups

There is no reason to save the gas, that statement was "sarcasm" by the way (Thus, the international Internet sign for sarcasm was posted - the rolling eyes smiley).

Confidence and arrogance are two very separate attitudes. I know enough about your coaches & players this year and since 1999, to understand they are confident. Furthermore, with confidence comes respect. Playing important games against each other breeds respect. The talent along with the excellent coaching over the years made Greenbriar an exemplary program, one of the top programs in the state. But more important, a program respected by all, especially fans and parents who are proud to have their sons play for Greenbriar year after year.
Yes, winning is important (and fun as heck) but knowing your program is full of young men, who will represent the school with pride and dignity is just as important. Whether these young men continue their baseball careers as professionals, college players, coaches, or Dads, none will forget these games or this time when they were molded into men.
As fans, we often forget (myself included) these are kids. We treat them as budding professionals with the media, Hollywood & ESPN version of win at all costs and "if you ain't first you're last". We do NOT teach them the infinitely more significant - Life is not how many times you win but those times you fail, then pick yourself up, learn from it and better yourself.
I am sure a little smack talk hurts no one. However, as fans we ALL should cease living our lives vicariously through our children and teams up through and including high school (this is not targeted at anyone in this thread, but to high school parents and fans everywhere, including myself). As fans, we must reject the BS beliefs and PR being fed to us by the media, movies and those who have no clue. Unfortunately, we are the last filter, the last line of defense to bring reality, true honor and sportsmanship back to sports.
Win or lose, Marist and Greenbriar (and many other programs still playing or not) have separated themselves as beacons of what is right about high school sports. The lead by example mission must continue. It is sad our rivalry will end for at least two years as y'all move up to AAAAA and we stay at AAAA. With a AA enrollment, we had desires for AAAAA but the GHSA frowned enough on us continuing to move up two classifications. Hopefully, we can play again soon.

Best of luck tomorrow. I hope we have decent weather and no injuries. And thank you for allowing me the soapbox. Again, I was not targeting anyone in this thread or the baseball forum. After reading the decline of the DeKalb schools baseball thread, this post has stuck in my craw all weekend.

God Bless...

Re: Elite 8 Matchups

If you think Region 7 is the toughest region in 4AAAA , then 4 AAAA must be very weak compared to 5 AAAAA.
