Turner County....
Interesting that Coach Kellogg agreed to the interview.... not sure it was such a good idea,... those boy's in the striped shirts stick together...right or wrong.... I understand the frustration but it may have been better if he had said call me next week and slept on it for a few days..... blogs.ajc.com/georgia-high-sch...h_school_sports

THATS INTERESTING
u are assuming he makes both free throws and scores again in the possession. we missed a layup and u scored at the buzzer to force ot!!!
in overtime i believe we won fairly and sqaurely.... i will agree we got a break but to say you would have won is absurd....
we played 2 times and u lost 2 times!!!
u have a fine coach and a great program and they will be back!!!!!
i agree with the ac game should have been decided in ot! you win the semifinal game and i asume we beat ac in the final four .... we prob still lose to whitefield in the final!!!!
kenny gaines best player in class a bar none!!!

Re: THATS INTERESTING
I think he should have spoken out. The problem is no one says anything and ghsa does nothing. Coaches can be ejected and lose jobs, but official continue on being terrible and having all power to tell coaches to basically shut up and watch me screw you. I was not at the game, but the call in the Turner game was like the shot heard around the world because I had several colleagues express their displeasure in the game. I went back to watch the game and I also watched the championship game. The calls against AC was not called in the Turner game was called in the WA game which is why AC was in foul trouble. Watch both games and see want you agree.
White28 seeing that you are from Lanier is probably why you misread the article. Coach Kellogg never said they would have won, what he said was it would have made a difference in the game. I took the article as saying there were to critical calls made in to big games against his team, and because it was nothing he could do he felt he let his kids down. He also pointed out one call didn't follow the rule and the other was a judgement call.
Coach I commend you for trying to express yourself as professionally as you could considering the situation. You had a chance to blast the officials publicly and individually. Again you chose the higher road again, and I say again because I didn't hear anything about you given a technical for arguing . Nice article people will see it both ways. Coach Kellogg I feel your pain and continue to fight for your kids.

Re: THATS INTERESTING
I don't think he was assuming any of that. I think he was just pointing out the errors that was made and the explanation that was given. That doesn't taken anything away from Lanier. It's more just a reflection of how bad the officiating is and how there's no answer for it.
It's very possible Turner could have beaten Lanier in a 3rd game. You have to consider as well that not only did Lanier not play in Ashburn, but also in the region tournament Turner was playing it's 3rd game of the week and Lanier playing its' first. Turner had made a long road trip two nights in a row. That was a result of a region tie with Wilcox where outside the region record and quality of opponents factored in deciding the tiebreaker.
That's not to say we would have beaten Lanier. Lanier had a great team, but anything could have happened in a 3rd meeting. Congratulations on a great season though, because Lanier deserved it. Ya'll have good fans who have waited a long time for a season like this one.

with that said , i am a huge turner co. fan and kellog fan
i think he does a great job and his teams are only moving forward ove the next few year.... i really thought his team was treated fairly in the semifinals and i agree the ref blew the call vs. us. i felt like we were the second best team in the state behind whitefield behind our defense~ i am just happy to be fortunate to beat you guys 3 out of 4 times in the last 2 years and we should have gotten to play u in the region tournament in lakeland not ashburn last year but guidleines are guidelines~~
my opinion is just that .. an opinion!!!
turner will be back sooner than everyone thiks!!!
it over and done with now ~~`~

I posted this to the AJC blog in response to Kellog's interview
Let me say this: I’m a Randolph Clay Fan. We are not significant in basketball anymore, but I know just what Turner Co went through, and how they are feeling right now.
Randolph Clay has 4 boys state titles and 2 girls titles. We have just as many Runner-up trophies for 2nd best in the state. We also have more “shafts” courtesy of the GHSA and the refs in Macon, GA than I care to think about. We have gone to Macon many, many times with the best athletes, the best coach, and the overall best team, but left with nothing simply because we were from the wrong part of Georgia, and dare I say, the wrong ethical background.
You might not like it but remember what that guy from the GHSA uttered about the Macon Coliseum when all of the schools that were predominately African-American started arriving at the arena. They fired him the same night.
I’m not a Turner Co fan, personally, I don’t like them. I’m not a Kellogg fan, nor am I a fan of some of his players, but I have a new found respect for the man because he had the guts to speak out against an obvious injustice orchestrated by referees and the GHSA that has been going on for decades.

What, exactly, is the "ethical background" at R-C
Do you even know the difference between ethic and ethnic.
Ethical is a word, but I don't think you used it correctly.
If you meant you are a race that someone didn't desire, the words "ethnic background" would have been preferred to "ethnical background."

Just a typo my man
Don't get all worked up over that. Glad to see that you knew what I meant.
Believe me, I know the difference between "ethnic" and "ethic".
For instance: the code of ETHICS should have disallowed the GHSA from letting private schools play in a public school league if they weren't not mandated to follow the same bylaws.
But we know that when money is involved, ETHICS get blurry, no matter what ETHNIC group you are dealing with.

Re: Just a typo my man
Considering that Georgia Military Academy (now Woodward) was the leader in the founding of the GHSA, I think it more than a stretch to suggest it has ever been a "public school league."
Let's give you the benefit of the doubt on the typo. Even at that, ethnic and ethnical mean exactly the same thing. If it was a typo, you apparently were trying to impress somebody by using a bigger word rather than the preferred word.
