Joe Dix out at EHHS

Joe Dix out at EHHS

Coach is leaving to take the South Gwinnett job.  Any thoughts on his replacement?  JD would be the initial thought.  Rumors from EH say that he may not be interested.  If someone from the outside came in who would it be?

JD will not get the job... I look for a big name, or a top assistant from another program. This is a slap in the face to EH... Hate to say "I told you so"...

Should have taken TC when they had the chance.
He played every day but never kept score, he looked damn good in a tuxedo and he spent his time worrying about more important things than golf- like chasing Judge Smails's niece, Lacey Underall, into bed.  There's a lot to be learned about golf from a man like Ty Webb.

I liked the idea of Todd coming to EH after Vining retired, but now I am not so sure. Nevertheless, I don't think Jeff would hire him.

Did Dix leave or was he run off........... Either way, he's in for a rude awakening when he has to face the competition he'll encounter in Gwinnett Co.............

Keepin' it real.........the Swami

Coach Dix is well aware of the competition he will face at the 6A level. I have no doubt he will do fine at SG, and may even win a title or two.

Joe Dix had a good run up at EH, its really a sad day he is leaving....

As far as a replacement how about an old blast from the past bring VA back to Hall County

Re: Joe Dix out at EHHS

If JC gets the job it will be the last straw for many people in the EH community.  That is who you're talking about 81 correct?  The "family connection" that you're speaking about is getting a little old. I love Josh, I think he is a great kid, but, he is by no means ready for a head varsity job - especially one like EH.  EH is still a premier job, at least for the time being.  Is it what is once was, no, but it's still a top notch job. IMHO, I think the job is JD's to turn down.  After that, look north....

In all honesty I hope they look elsewhere. I don't believe the job is one an inexperienced head coach can handle. There is a great deal of pressure that goes with the job and a lot of backlash when things go wrong. I would like to see Wood from NH get the job.

Best to believe if Woods want's the job he could get it. The man knows his basketball. But I say they look outside of the program.

Benji is taking the stance of "if they want to talk to me then I will listen".  He probably won't persue the issue too hard, but, if Jeff wants to look outside Benji will be his first choice.  I know that there has been some informal talks between the two, but, nothing formal as of yesterday.  I have heard a lot of gossip, it should be interesting.

I heard that they want an outsider. JC is a good guy, and good coach but I just don't see him getting the job without any head coaching experience.

But I could be wrong because they hired Rider??

Re: Joe Dix out at EHHS

Joey had previous varisty experience.  I know that JC has been doing some coaching, but, what has he done?  I've seen grandpa around the middle school and high school a lot lately and I know that JC interviewed at the ms.  The number one reason that I wouldn't even consider JC right now is becuase it would be very difficult for him to have the kids respect and be seen as an athority figure in the gym at this point in his career.  Another program?  Maybe, but not EH.  And having his cousin on the team would be even worse.  Especially when he scores 5 points through the first 2 rounds of state again...   I just think that would be a huge slap in the face to JD as well the portion of the community that doesn't beleive that L and SC walk on water.

Wood is the guy you want.... As for salary, it would remain the same since both are Hall County schools. Where is the additional income at NH coming from?

Re: Joe Dix out at EHHS

This thread is almost getting pathetic... One, EH will not hire JC. This is almost becoming a personal attack on the family. Do you people not believe that there are procedures that disallow Sam from using his position to benefit his family? JC is a great guy, I'm sure he will be a good coach somewhere someday, but right now he is better suited for a JV slot somewhere until he builds up his resume. But seriously the personal attacks and Vendettas are just making the EH community look ignorant. Two, Benji Wood is NOT leaving North Hall. If my memory serves me correctly, he recently turned down a head coaching position at University of Buford. Which is essentially what Buford high is. A high school with college level athletes. And to be honest, EH is good but not Buford good. Not to mention that EH cannot match Wood's salary from NH. Finally, TC also is out of the question. If Wood is out of the question due to money, so is Todd. Until some realistic names are thrown out here, I will continue question the validity of this thread, which right now, is nothing more than a wish list interlaced with libel. The only realistic option provided thus far is coach Rider or an assistant coach from either squad but I do still believe that none of them are the answer this program needs.
