I can't recall who all has had a shot since then...Marietta in 2009 and McEachern in 2011 are the only two that come to mind. But it's a guarantee this season. This game tonight has a HEAP of peripheral story lines to it, especially with this being Coach Fowler's last game. After playing each other 3 times this season, I am really looking forward to how she game plans this one, especially given the short amount of time to prepare. The old Princeton slow-down kept it close the second meeting.

Yes, Pope was the last that I remember and only the 2 you mentioned have played in the final. Fowler is a a good coach but I just think talent will win over coaching in this one.

Normally, I wouldn't have a rooting interest in this game, but it is for this reason and this reason alone that I'm pulling for Hillgrove. Sorry MAC.
Oh, and BTW, I want to say Wheeler and/or Lassiter made the Final Four (not necessarily the title game) sometime in the early 2000s. And there was that one Marietta team (featuring Angel Robinson) that might have been Cobb's best team in a long time. They were the only team that came close to knocking off one of those Maya Moore Collins Hill teams (in the quarters) that steamrolled over everyone else.

After not being pushed by an opponent in over a month, dem Indian girls proved last night that they can gut one out in the end. The only time that game was tied was at the opening tip...looked like we were going to put it away early in the 4th but Norcross has some warriors on their team, too. It is tough to defend that 3 ball when all of the Mac starting 5 are confident in making it from out there...but it's the defense that got this team to where it is. Their press and trap is tough on teams...I was surprised at how Norcross struggled against it early in the game. Hillgrove has struggled against it, also...they are playing with huge confidence but I think it's going to once again come down to how well they get the ball up to run their half court.

Coach Fowler will always be appreciated for the foundation she set at McEachern and I can't imagine the Hillgrove folks not feeling the same way after she's gone. Coach Arthur is appreciated and respected in the same manner by all in the Mac community- great teacher, coach and friend with an old-school mentality the parents I know absolutely love. Fun to imagine what it would be like if Cobb County decided to allow McEachern to grow to the size of a Mill Creek and not build Hillgrove, at least from an athletics standpoint. In some sports, there'd be more talent riding the bench than other schools would have starting.

Well, MC is a little bit closer to McE's size now after losing a few students with opening of Mountain View and (to much lesser extent) Lanier.

So were we in the seats. I knew it would be tough, but I believe we allowed those consecutive 3's and the tight D in the begining to shake our confidence. We didn't play up to our usual level. I'm proud of the fact we came back and possibly could have won it if we hadn't been so pititful at the line all night.
Good luck to your team tonight, they are a talented bunch. Coach Fowler deserves a ring just being able to get around in those 4" heels!
