One True Youth Football League in Metro Atlanta

I took all of the teams I could find in the following leagues and located them on a map and by county or area. I came up with 115 teams that are currently in UYFC, GYFC, MAYFL, SYFL, HCYFL, GXYFL, YFA, NGYFL, NWGYFL, NMFA, FCYFL, GFL, CCFL, and WYFL. I dived geographically(with a couple of moves) and came up with 8 divisions of 14 or 15 teams (these could be dived into sub-divions of 7 or 8 for scheduling).
East Conference
North Division
Alpharetta
Roswell
Chattahoochee
Northview
Sandy Springs
South Forsyth
Sharon Springs
West Forsyth
Bennett Park
Midway (Forsyth)
Forsyth Central
Atlanta Colts(moved)
North DeKalb(moved)
Tucker(moved)

Gwinnett Division
Brookwood
Buford
Collins Hill
Dacula
Duluth
Grayson
Lawrenceville
Lilburn
Mill Creek
Norcross
North Gwinnett
Parkview
Peachtree Ridge
Shiloh
South Gwinnett

Dekalb Division
Central DeKalb
DeKalb Trojans
Glenwood
Rock Chapel
Gresham Park
Midway
Scottdale
Ray of Hope
Redan
DYJ
Druid Hills
New Birth
South DeKalb
Pass Mustangs

Southeast Division
Rockdale
JAM Dolphins
East Metro
New Rock
Athens Oilers
North Henry
McDonough
Locust Grove
Union Grove
ELCA
Woodland
Loganville (move)
East DeKalb (move)
River Road (move)

West Conference
Cobb Division
Marietta
Milford
Southweast Cards
Wallace Park
Due West
Hillgrove
McEachern
Smyrna
Fair Oaks
East Cobb
Kennesaw
Acworth
Blackwell
South Cherokee

Douglas /Paulding Division
Douglasville
Winston
Mt. Carmel
Beulah
Bill Arp
South Paulding
Hiram
East Paulding
New Hope
Rockmart
Cedartown
Southwest Steelers (move)
Welcome All (move)
Fairburn (move)
Union City (move)

City/South Fulton Division
Atlanta Vikings
Atlanta Knights
East Point
Old National
Hapeville
College Park
Georgia Rattlers
Pac Youth
Southwest Atlanta
Ben Hill
Cascade
Sandtown

Clayton/Fayette Division
Fayette County
Paechtree City
Sandy Creek
Brooks
Sharpsburg
Coweta Cobras
Starrs Mill
Forest Park
Jonesboro
North Clayton
Riverdale
Panhandle
Morrow/Lake City
Christian Outreach
JYA

This should make for interesting debate. Each Division could take the top 8 and playoff for the top 2 spots (two weeks), the take those 2 teams from each division and playoff until there is a champion (4 weeks). You could play single age starting at 9, 10, 11, and 12. There could then be an optional league of 13/14. The division playoffs would be November 6 and 13. The Championship playoff would start November 20, the skip Thanksgiving, and continue on December 4, 11, and the finals on the 18.

What do you think? Let me know if I missed any teams.

I love the idea!!!! I think it would meet resistance from teams that know they will be less competitive. I would offer a friendly Amendment to your idea. Perhaps consider having a D1 and D2 so that perhaps the strongest 8 teams in the Eastern Conference - North Division were D1 and the weaker teams in that division could be D2. I know that defeats to an extent what you are trying to accomplish but remember a few years ago there was a Church team in UYFC that didn't come close to winning a game for years... I think that's bad for youth sports.

What do you think?

Re: One True Youth Football League in Metro Atlanta

Here is an update with the top 32 teams (overall) in 4 divisions

North
Acworth
Alpharetta
Atlanta Colts
West Forsyth
Sharon Springs
Dacula
Mill Creek
Buford

East
Tucker
Gresham
Central DeKalb
Glenwood
Redan
Grayson
Brookwood
Parkview

South
Clayton Co. Cowboys
Old National
Welcome All
Fayette Co.
North Henry
Union Grove
Riverdale
East Metro

West
Sandtown
Ben Hill
Atlanta Vikings
Milford
Mount Carmel
McEachern
Douglasville
Georgia Rattlers

You play 10 game regular season starting August 28 through October 30 for playoff seeding, the play 5 week playoff November 6, 13, 20, December 4 with championships on December 11.

Play the teams in your division once and play 3 others North vs East and South vs West (natural rivals?)

Sample schedule for Tucker
Buford
Alpharetta
Acworth
Redan
Parkview
Glenwood
Gresham
Brookwood
Grayson
Central DeKalb

This would be great for all youth football.

yes! this could work...that church team that barely won a game was Ray of Hope. Would this league propose any kind of weight restrictions?

Probably a high ball carrier weight, but otherwise unlimited.

i totally agree with skimo, and you also, Roger, this would really be an incredible league to get going, one has to wonder what kind of resistance you will get from folks? But the updated list , and the way it would work out looks great. Lets do it!!

Seems like a lot of work has gone into this. Does that mean that Tucker is next to jump the UYFC ship?

If Tucker leaves the UYFC as we know it is dead. But there is a better way increase the weight limits and there would no problem. What is there to gain playing weight ball?

Interesting, but boy getting all of these groups to agree to a set of rules would be the biggest challange.
