Your school's top wins-

Avatar

Your school's top wins-

I enjoyed putting together a list of what I believed to be the 15 biggest wins in North Hall history. During the off season I would enjoy reading about your schools biggest wins. Some of you older guys that have seen many  years of games at your school might consider giving us high school football nuts something to read while there's no trash to talk. I just can't stand the thoughts of leaving the football board. Basketball just does not give me my high school fix.
Tell us about your top 15, 10, 5 or just your biggest win ever.

1) NTH v Perry 2007?
1) GHS v Stephens County [edit] 1981 [the late, great Bobby Gruhn is quoted as saying that it was the greatest comeback he'd ever seen or been a part of.]

They're tied, ok?

Got any details on that GHS comeback, Flash?

excitedMy memory fades Ernest...

Now that i'm digging ... it wasn't central it was Stephens County. I think.

But IT WAS what Bobby Gruhn said was the greatest comeback. Down 23-6 with four mins left. 28-23 final. I think this deserves some good old internet searching.

Mostly it was a kid named Mike Byrd. He was discovered as a great running back that night. He'd get 8, 21, 15 yds etc. It was like herschel that night.... in the fourth quarter when Coach finally got tired of him saying "Coach - put me in I can get it!". Hell nobody believed that but Mike I suppose.

Amazing win. Maybe not the best high school game - but it was definitely one of my favorites.

Looks like we played twice that year - it was the second meeting:

He was indeed. He was too old school for the modern era. He had done too much for GHS to be treated like he was at the end of his career.

Re: Your school's top wins-

10)  2006 Washington County – (Semifinal) One of the many battles with WACO.  This time it was in the Dome for the chance to host the State Championship.  PC wins 43-29

9)  1998 Riverdale – (Semifinal) Peach County’s first game in the Georgia Dome.  PC wins 17-14

8)  2010 Grady – (Quarterfinal) A come from behind victory on the road.  Possibly the biggest come from behind victory in school history.  PC wins 42-35

7)  2011 Carrolton – (Quarterfinal) Another come from behind victory on the road.  This game invited some of the best trash talk I’ve seen on the vent.  Finally, the two Trojans get a chance to battle.  PC wins 19-15

6)  1990 Baker – (Region Game) An overtime win by penetration on Homecoming night.  THIS GAME MARKS THE BIRTH OF PEACH COUNTY FOOTBALL AS WE KNOW IT TODAY.  By knocking off undefeated Baker, the 1990 Peach County Trojans let the Peach County community along with the rest of the State know that Peach County could compete with anyone in the state.  That team finished 9-1, never having the chance to compete in the State Playoffs.  PC wins 9-8.

5)  2010 Baldwin – (Region Championship) Both teams were undefeated with 9-0 records.  The most fans I’ve ever seen in the Valley.  Baldwin brought so many fans that they had to sit on the steps.  PC wins 35-15

4)  1992 Marist – (Semifinal) The first Semifinal appearance in Peach County history.  An epic battle between two undefeated 13-0 teams for a chance to compete for the State Championship.  PC wins 34-28

3)  2006 Shaw – (State Championship) Peach County’s 2nd State Championship but first at home in the Valley.  PC wins 28-7

2)  2009 Gainesville – (State Championship) Peach County brings down Nationally ranked Gainesville and earned our first National ranking and third State Championship along with the first 15-0 season.  PC wins 13-12

1)  2005 Daugherty – (State Championship) Against a bitter playoff rival, Peach County earned its first State Championship win in school history.  PC wins 35-14

AAA State Runner-Ups 1992 1998 2003 2011

old school... like after a loss we'd be on the bus and he'd say "practice 7am tomorrow morning". We'd be lucky if we only went for 3 hours in the am...

Great list wjubryant. I hope I live long enough to make a list for OUR Trojans that will include at least ONE state championship.
I kinda like that next to the last one myself. (tell me he didn't go for two)

I will pull a list together a list for SPX. My memory is fuzzy on dates and scores so will have to do a little research. Great topic though. Hope others will contribute as well.

Hey Flash

Flash,

I believe Mike Birds Son was the Running Back on Gainesville's team this season.
Either FR or Soph.  Looks like he's a chip off the old block.

Yeah, not only that year but ten different seasons. That's quiet a history with another school. I doubt that will ever happen again unless two teams from the same region meet deep in the playoffs (semifinals or finals) and that would be rare.

The supposedly ''racial'' statement that some made such a big deal over. Surely you remember.

Re: Your school's top wins-

ET

Gainsville scored as time ran out, decided to go for 2.
Pass into the end zone was picked off by Crowell (sp).
End of game.

Guess they didn't want to be co-champs.
