As far as I've been able to see, Blake Anderson and Tyrone Nix are two of the leading candidates for the head coaching job...

I just read though, that FSU assistant Eddie Gran has is now a candidate as well.

"Eddie Gran, an associate head coach, special teams coordinator and running backs coach at Florida State. The 47-year-old Gran is widely considered to be one of the best recruiters in the country. He was also one of Tommy Tuberville's top assistants when the coach turned around Ole Miss amid massive scholarship reductions in the mid '90s. Later, Gran was Tuberville's right-hand man for a decade at Auburn."

We don't need to consider anyone that isn't at least an offensive coordinator. To much risk.

Tyrone Nix would be an awful hire.

Blake Anderson, Todd Monken, and Kliff Kingsbury are my top 3.

I just wish I could find some information on a list of candidates though... I can't seem to find anything.

Probably a bit too soon. We should know something by next week I'm sure.

Will have to find an up and coming assistant coach that is eager for a head coaching job. If they are successful here, they will be interviewed for a bigger job.  Thats just reality of where this program is and will be for a very long time.

UT-Martin head coach (and former Southern Miss grad.) Jason Simpson has stated that he is interested in the Southern Miss opening.

He just completed is 7th season at UT-Martin, leading the Warhawks to a 8-3 record (he currently has a 45-34 overall record in 7 seasons), and is currently up for the National Coach of the year award for FCS. I'm not exactly sure want this offense contains, but he runs the "Power Spread"

I've also heard that Bobby Petrino is an early candidate as well.

It's not USM news tech., but Auburn has decided to hire former OC (and most recently Arkansas St. HC) Gus Malzahn to be their new HC.

The only reason I bring this up (and I'm not saying this is my favorite candidate, I'm just saying the to "fuel the fire"), it was believed the Boddy Petrino's two biggest options were Auburn and USM...

Now that the Auburn job is no longer available, would Petrino become desperate enough to take a huge pay cut to try and rehab is image at USM??

Announced on omspirit.com Alford to ole miss this coming semester release or not. He'll warm the bench if released.

How serious of a candidate is Brown? Is he one of the top two guys or is he like 4th or 5th or on down the line?

He's very high on the list.
