I'd like to hear a top three from everyone on who will be our next head coach. We can all agree Coach Johnson has to go.

Re: New coach, who is it going to be?
I do not know the leadership capabilities from these men at all. Just going on their "track record." haha. I want a competitor, natural born leader, and someone with the energy of the energizer bunny. I dont think we can afford a proven head coach so we must go after a up and coming star. We may not can afford anyone on my list either though.
1. Kliff Kingsbury 2. Todd Monken 3. Blake Anderson
Yes, they are all young, offensive minded coaches. They MUST understand that defense is very important as well.

Re: New coach, who is it going to be?
General Hammond has already done so much for Southern Miss. Cite Donnie Tyndall for the type of hire we'll have for our next football coach. We need to keep the General. I trust him on this next hire.

**just throwing out some more names** Morris makes over $1 million as OC at Clemson...he's out of our pay range. I don't know about a Top 3, but here are some names: Anderson- OC UNC Kingsbury- OC Texas A&M Neal Brown- OC Texas Tech Monken- OC OK St. Shannon Dawson- OC WVU (sliding down the list, may not be ready) Mark Stoops- DC FSU Doug Nussmeier- OC Bama Mark Helfrich- OC Oregon Bob Diaco- DC Notre Dame Willie Taggart- HC WKU Darrell Hazell- HC Kent St. Todd Berry- HC UL-Monroe Dave Doeren- HC NIU Bobby Wilder- HC Old Dominion Willie Fritz- HC Sam Houston St. Danny Rocco-HC Univ. of Richmond Clint Conque- HC Central Arkansas Not sure on how much most of these guys make or whether they would be a good fit for us. If I'm looking for someone with HC experience then I think you look at Doeren, Hazell, Wilder or Rocco. Otherwise, I'm looking at Kingsbury, Brown, Anderson and Monken. I feel that Anderson is our quickest route to recovery, especially if he brings Kap and/or Deke Adams back with him.

RE: New coach, who is it going to be?
We aren't going to get a head coach from another FBS school. It may be a step up in pay and competition, but it's not an AQ job. We'll have to hire a coordinator or an FCS coach

Re: New coach, who is it going to be?
I really don't think USM needs to look very far down the road to hire a true winner with that being STEVE CAMPBELL!!!! He has won on all levels of college athletics, and would be a great recruiter, and without a doubt he would bring some much needed fire to the sidelines at USM! Yes he has coached at MSU, won a national championship at Delta State and at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College! A well known and respected name in coaching!

Campbell's name came up last year during the coaching search. There is no doubt, the guy can coach. Not sure if he'll be given an interview but he's a good one.

He won't come here. I can say with near certainty that he does not want this job.

RE: New coach, who is it going to be?
I believe Gus Malzahn took a pay cut to go from Auburn to Arkansas State, so just because they make more money now is not necessarily a reason to say we can't get them.

I just read that Ellis Johnson is being retained. I have to see any links on this though.
