Tailgating allowed?

Tailgating allowed?

Hey y'all, I'm an alumna of Cougar High from down the road in Hurricane Ike-ville... recently relocated to north Texas, just before the hurricane came bustin' through. My family and I are coming to your fine stadium for the first time on a particular weekend in October, and I was wondering if tailgating is allowed there. I went to smumustangs.com and found some information about Ford Stadium, but when I clicked the link that was supposed to lead me to the stadium rules and regulations, I got that "web page not found" stuff.

Thanks very much for any help, and thanks for the use of y'all's stadium a few weekends ago, even if we got silly and let Air Farce take the wind out of our sails.

I am sure someone will help you. Just hold your horses and wait until tomorrow morning. I believe we can call a truce and help someone that has been through the mess with Ike that you folks have.  And by the way, I wish Coach Sumlin the best except when he pays us.

Re: Tailgating allowed?

Waiting isn't a big deal. I'm happy to have a laugh about foolishness on Scout.com boards- smack-talk is smack-talk, and I can take it for what it is if y'all can.

Lke I said, we moved up here literally a month before the hurricane hit, but we have plenty of friends all over Houston who have it rough. We're doing a food drive at my office to benefit the Fort Worth food bank because it's running low- they're all running low. I've already donated blood and am just trying to think of different ways to help the folks back on the Gulf coast, because Cougar or Mustang, we're all Texans. That may sound corny to y'all but if I cared, I wouldn't say it.

We were big tailgaters at every single Houston home game and will really miss that now that we're up here, although we will get to go back for a few games in November. We were hosting friends who ran from the hurricane when we played at your stadium, so we didn't go to the game in all the craziness, but we had the internet radio feed on and were glued to it. We determined when we moved up here that we would go to the UH-SMU game because we won't let out Coogs be so close and not go see them.

Sorry for the ramble, but I really am just trying to think of a creative way to do something to help out folks who need it, and have fun at the same time.

And for what it's worth, at our house, we were really rooting for you against TCU... that bowl game loss we had to them last Christmas still stings.

Re: Tailgating allowed?

On tailgating,

SMU does allow tailgating on campus, but if you are looking for traditional "tailgating" in a parking lot there isn't much to come by because there isn't much parking.  You are much better off parking the car somewhere and heading down to the main avenue through campus, Bishop Boulevard where everyone has tents set up.  Your best bet is to find some friendly SMU fans and trade beer for food and conversation.  As far as finding some open realestate and setting up yourself, I'm not sure how that works since I have a normal reserved spot to I drop in on.  You might call SMU and ask about that.

I just got this info. You can call Skylar Johnson at 214 768 4051 regarding tailgating.

Thank y'all so much for the info and the phone number. I didn't realize parking was an issue at Ford, and that plae where the tents are all set up sounds like fun. Thanks again. Best of luck, except when y'all play us in October.

Realistic? Put down the weed and realize that the days of Dickerson and James were over 30 years ago and that your program was officially declared dead by the NCAA. Now that's being realistic.

That would be 26-27 years ago. Good to see you putting that quality education to work.

Yep....and it looks like SMU is getting their act together.   Should be a good game this Saturday.   I sure was pulling for the Mustangs against Tulsa.  When I saw you were beating them, I pulled the game up on Gametracker and followed it while watching the Mizzou/Okie Lite game.
