Bye, bye Vanderbilt.

Bye, bye Vanderbilt.

Next time you aren't too scared to schedule a series against us you might want to pay the refs a little bit more.

Those officials were absolutely terrible. Either way ... huge win. Congrats to Kermit and crew.

Re: Bye, bye Vanderbilt.

WE beat them by playing a pretty poor game and having absolutely no help from the zebras.  Got tough when it counted.  Stallings was about to blow a vein with about a minute left during a timeout.  We have now won 3 out of the last 4 against the SEC and 4 of the last 6.

Good win tonight. Kerry Hammonds is absolutely clutch. I come away with concerns about our half court offense, but hey, we all called for a low scoring game. It just seems like we miss a lot of easy looks around the rim. 4-2 in our last 6 sec games... Gotta like that stat!

Those refs made the TSU game referees look like angels, they were so horrible. What a game, what a win... and WHAT A CROWD!! 8,307, and probably 8,000 in MT BLUE!!

Congrats to the team; really fun game to be at, especially the last few minutes!

What was up with Vandy's lack of support? It appeared they didn't even have 1/4 of the fans there.

Also, I'm glad the students didn't rush the court; I heard a few of them talking about it when we took the 3 point lead.

Awesome game.  We had a great time.  We also sat next to 10 of the 13 VU fans that showed up.

Video highlights HERE

Even though there were many clutch plays, this one has to be the play of the game:

Great win but yes we need to work on our half court offense. I was curious as to why Massey was on the bench at the end as well.

Kermit said he was gassed.

RE: Bye, bye Vanderbilt.

Kermit's postgame comment on why he substituted Bruce Massey late in the game:
"I saw Bruce get tired. I don't think there is a better guard in the SEC right now than (Kedren Johnson). He's played like that in all the tapes I've watched during the past five games. (Bruce) got physically tired. I think Tweety (Knight) fresh gave us another physical guard. It was nothing about matchups. I thought Bruce was tired. Those guards were getting tired too. Kedren Johnson made a lot of plays through the whole game."

I gotta tell ya - this victory is sweet! Not as good as beating UT last year but it's pretty damn close!

Just finished re-watching the last few minutes of that game. I was watching the bench at Hammond's steal and lay-up. Who do you think was jumping and and down and cheering the hardest? Bruce Massey. He didn't seem too gassed to me!

I think that shows great sportsmanship when you are the guy who kept the team in the game, yet you can cheer on another teammate who becomes the "hero" at the end.

That steal and layup would of woken somebody from a coma. I'm sure he was tired.

Kedron Jackson (or was it Johnson) is a helluva player. I had never heard of the guy.

He made tough shot after tough shot.

Without him, we roll by thirty.

Yep he is the PG Vandy has needed for years, he has no help however.

Re: Bye, bye Vanderbilt.

I went to the game last night (as a neutral of course) and I must say, 1) the refs were absolutely horrific and very laughable and apparently can't tell the difference between a charge and blocking. 2) if I was a Vandy fan or player for that matter I would be embarrased of either being a player, fan or student of that school. No offense to MTSU at all, but it's pretty sad that an SEC school team who's school is only a mile down the road from where they played only brings about 1K fans compared to a Sun Belt school 30 miles down the road brings in about 7500-8000 people. It was the same way a couple years ago when they had the SEC/Sun Belt challenge a couple years ago when MT played UT and Western played Vandy and Western brought twice as many fans who's school is over an hour away. Congrats on the win and if anyone wants to know how bad Vandy is, MT went on like a  8 minutes scoring drought in the first half and y'all were only down by 3. A good team like Belmont, Murray, etc would've had a 15-20 point lead by then. Again, congrats on the win and good luck this season. You guys have a pretty good team that could make some noise this season. As for the Peay, looking like a repeat of last season banghead

Let's Go Peay!

Re: Bye, bye Vanderbilt.

What about that charge called right before the half. I cant remember if it was JT or rozier, but they called a player control foul and there was not one Vandy player in front of him. That was about the worst call I have ever seen.
