11/9 home opener
Any word on ticket sales? I know season tickets are up a good bit. Anybody on campus feel a buzz from the students? I hate that I live in Atlanta now, I didn't miss a home game last year

Re: 11/9 home opener
There is a big high school playoff game between Siegel and Blackman tomorrow; I don't think that will affect the student turnout, but it might have some impact on attendance.

I was going to say the same. Go Blaze, by the way. Anyway, I'm going to go with 6800, but I think there's potential for 8000.

RE: 11/9 home opener
There was a decent turnout Monday from the students. So i think it will continue to grow as the season goes on (if we continue to win).
I know it's just an exhibition, but why don't people show up as much as they would if it mattered? I mean we played Auburn-Montgomery that doesn't count, then all of a sudden we play Alabama State that counts and people show up? weird to me, but ok.

RE: 11/9 home opener
Since it is the season opener, I'll say 7,000. It could have been somewhere between 8,000 and 9,000 if they marketed it right, but I'm not sure that has actually happened.

Re: 11/9 home opener
Our capacity is less now, since they didn't replace the fallen bleachers. Big empty space now.

RE: 11/9 home opener
Unfortunate, but I've seen the numbers for the seating in those sections and since only one fell down I think the total falls by about 350. So today, a sellout would be - instead of 11,802 - about 11,452.

People don't like to see scrubs play as a general rule. Basketball is a little different as you don't have 80 guys trying to fit into 53 spots but the perception is the same.

RE: 11/9 home opener
I hope all come early to watch the Lady Raiders as I think attendance in that game and Sunday's 2:00 game will have an impact on whether the third round game will be here or away in the WNIT deal.

I'm pretty sure that it would be hard not to host it here given we averaged (what was it?) 3500 last year for women's basketball. And since it's a doubleheader the total attendance (mens+womens) is counted. I'd expect 4000-5000 for the women's and 7000-8000 for the men.

RE: 11/9 home opener
Considering the semifinal game would be against Iowa/Northern Illinois/Illinois State/Morehead State, I don't think we'll have any problem hosting as long as it's not Iowa. If it is Iowa, we need great showings in these first two games, because they were 19th in attendance last season.
I think it'll be a great crowd by halftime of the Lady Raiders game. Some folks getting off of work may be a little late. I'm pumped for tomorrow night.

Very good turnout for the Women's game, particularly the students. Surprised and impressed. Hopefully we can fill it up even more for the men. Fifteen minutes to tipoff.

I will say I was very, very impressed with the student turnout. I would say the student section was 90% full. I was very surprised for a Friday night. Crowds are like polls, the better you do early in the year the better chance to really build something special.

RE: 11/9 home opener
CKD said 6k at the game with 1900 being students. They stepped up.
On the down side Rozier broke his hand and is out at least 4 weeks.
