I don't care where he goes as long as its not The University of Middle Tennessee. I'd love for him to wind up at UT or maybe VAndy at some point... I think he'd be a good fit for them. lol

Why is it that folks like to give Andy Mac a hard time? I always liked they guy...he coached during the time that I became an MT fan and he has gone on to do good things in the world of football...Titans, Georgia Tech, maybe others. I wish the guy well...once a Blue Raider, always a Blue Raider as far as I'm concerned.

How is that...he was our head coach during what was probably the most difficult times when we made the jump to I-A (as it was called back in the old days). He beat Vandy...and Troy regularly...like I said before, once a Blue Raider always.

The scholarship situation he put us in with APR sancations etc... derailed our team for a few years. Stock came in and coached up what we had and made a lot of good out of what could have been a few abysmal years.

Re: Andy Mac
Andy Mac took MT football through a very difficult transition and did a great job. I had to deal with Andy some in my job at MT and will say he was easy to work with and his players knew he would deal with disciplinary problems quickly. A lot of people on this board and another were quick to jump on his case and even to this day have ridden it into the ground, **** get over it and move on. If the ones bitching could do a better job why were you not coaching? I wish Andy all the luck in doing what he wishes in the future.

RE: Andy Mac
I gotta say that I loved watching his face on the GT sidelines while Benny was slicing and dicing Tech's D-Line.
Look he had his moments but after 03, he was done and the APR damage was mounting by then. We should have fired him after 03. 04 and 05 sealed our fates with the NCAA and once the 8 scholarship penalty was placed on us, Massaro had to make the move for that alone. The product on the field was also a huge factor, but the trouble with the NCAA could not be tolerated and was the death blow for him here. Stock has been heads and shoulders above Mac in every facet. Look where we are in the APR now. 7th in the nation. I also fault Boots for the APR issue as well and not firing Mac after 03. However, Massaro has been a huge upgrade as well.
Mac can recruit and he can coach. He would probably be the first to admit the mistakes he made here. If he's learned his lessons, he could be a force for APSU. I wish him luck.

RE: Andy Mac
Andy just got caught up with bad timing with the APR.He was following exactly what Louisville and Marshall did with their programs. He just had bad timing as the APR didn't exist until the end of his tenure.By then Louisville and Marshall had completed their plan and he got caught in the middle of his plan.He als got no help from the academic advisors like Stock did.I wish him luck in his future endeavors.

RE: Andy Mac
Talking about your ex-coach is like talking about your ex-wife. If she screwed you over, you complain constantly. If you married up, it's a footnote in history.
Good luck to our ex, but I don't see the point in discussing the past.

Re: Andy Mac (1 vote)
I'm don't believe you have enough knowledge of what was going on at the time. The APR situation was developing and happened at the end of his career. He was told to win early. He had to go the Juco route to get quick help.
The advisors multiplied and some $100,000 was added to give additional hours of educational support. Andy Mac brought us through some very difficult times. The current staff, which I also like, had their salaries increased substantially. A lot of effort was given to help Mac, and some of it was turned down. The staff turned over continuously because of the low salaries, few courtesy cars, poor practice field, poor transportation options. These are just a few of the problems. That said, it was a developing situation that constantly changed.
