RE: If Coosa added either Arkie State or Western
Both would compete but neither would help the perception of the league and if another belt team joins, they might as well merge the 2 and call it a day. I think we'd be better off with Texas St. if we had to take a belt team.
If it's one or the other and a gun is to my head, I'd have to go with WKU over ASU. At least they would be close to us and not in Arkansas.
Fanof49ASU, are we supposed to root for you guys? It's our board. Y'all say lovely things about us on your boards too. Deal with it.

You're right. It is what it is. I don't know why I had so much respect for MTSU....I guess I was blinded by my false belief it was mutual.
I'm over it now. Carry on.

I don't think it really matters. We need MT to be all it can be - we have a ton of work to do.

RE: If Coosa added either Arkie State or Western
Open your eyes. ASU seems to be doing well with attendance at football games when you give out over half of your tickets. From the standpoint of MT, WKU would be more beneficial to us then ASU. It's the truth, history of rivalry, fan support. Neither school really has a big TV market so you have to look at other factors.
Take your red tinted glasses off for a second and look at it from a business decision.

RE: If Coosa added either Arkie State or Western (2 votes)
I don't know why you guys are so thin skinned. You should be happy. We're gone. Your chances of another belt title has gone up, even with a depleted team.
The majority of you guys have repeatedly said "screw CUSA. We're better than them." Now you're bothered because we would prefer ASU to stay where they are? Which is it? You wanna go or stay? You won't leap frog us because it's more than success in one sport. It's about markets, overall success in all sports and potential growth no matter how much money ArkStFan says you have. You guys, ULL and ULM are now the only original belt members remaining. You might even win a Bubas cup with us gone.
Enjoy.

I'm really hoping that the CUSA picks up a school outside of the SunBelt. Appy State, UMass, Ohio (unlikely), James Madison, William and Mary, or even NMSU would be nice additions. There is no need for the CUSA to officially become the SunBelt v.2.

Neither. give me a NMSU over both. If it had to be one or the other though, I'd take ASU over WKU.
--------------------------------- There are two teams I care deeply about. #1 - My MTSU Blue Raiders. #2 - My Auburn Tigers. When it's gameday for either team, it's a happy day for me.

Re: If Coosa added either Arkie State or Western
Anyone who thinks NMSU should be taken before WKU or stAte needs to have their head examined.
When compared to other FBS programs, I'd put NMSU ahead of Idaho. That's it. I'd probably begrudgingly take them over Troy or ULM, but that's it, but if our options are NMSU, Troy and ULM...I'd over this conference already.
I can understand not wanting to take Western, why give them the same advantages we've just gained from the conference move? Having said that, they have the best overall athletic department of anyone we could possibly add and it's not really all that close. If you want to put our rivalry ahead of the benefit of the entire conference, that's your business, I'm torn on the matter personally. I think I'm leaning away from adding them, for reasons of the rivalry and because C-USA isn't exactly in trouble. If our numbers were dwindling and we needed to add strong programs, we're not going to do better than Western.
If we're looking to add a FBS program and one that isn't in the Sun Belt and the Big East doesn't collapse, I'd circle Ohio above all else. They have decent proximity, they're closer to Marshall than we are to Western, they have a strong program, strong academics and I've heard Athens Ohio is one of the better college towns in the country.

Would Ohio consider leaving the MAC for C-USA?

Re: If Coosa added either Arkie State or Western
If the CUSA expands again it will be because Tulsa has joined the Big East, which is seemingly more likely to happen. If that happens they are probably going top look for a western team to replace them, that's why I think it will either be NMSU, TxSU, or ASU. I really hope they pick a non- SunBelt team, nothing against ASU, WKU, or ULL, I would like to see MTSU in a new conference where the schedule has different names on the schedule.

If its Texas State that gives you four Texas teams. Is that too many?

I would be fine with ULL, fan base is good and can't beat a trip to New Orleans.

RE: If Coosa added either Arkie State or Western
Yep, Texas st. is gonna get the nod. They are already primed to go. They have the backing to make the move.
I think ULL and Texas st. has more to offer CUSA than ASU or WKU. I just do. Wider fan base, closer to larger cities. more potential for growth and better TV markets. Ga st., with the ATL market has that too.
ASU has definitely improved but what are they near? A market that is owned by the SEC. WKU is near Nashville, outside their state and Louisville, who's now in the ACC. The room for growth lies in the bigger markets. This isn't snobbery. This is life in CFB. Bottom line. That's how the smaller perceived schools are being judged.
