Excellent news! I think an official announcement will be out within a week, but that's just me.

Adam Sparks @ AdamSparks

Expect # MTSU & FAU to likely announce move to C-USA for '13 by Sign Day (Feb 6), but nothing official yet. SBC exit fee still in discussions

Hey man, take it easy on my home town!

In actuality, this guy writes for an even smaller paper than the Clarion Ledger. He's with the Sun Herald on the coast (more equivalent to the DNJ than the Tennessean) and is the USM beat writer. He also does a pretty good job.

No offense intended to you or your home town. Rather an attempt to slam that communist rag Tennessean :)

Hah. I can assure you no offense was taken. I take more shots at Jackson than anybody ...

Either way, I'm stoked about the announcement. That's fantastic for the university/ athletic department.

Apparently, the source is USM's AD who mentioned it because of the scheduling meetings the are coming up and the fact that he's had to start accommodating the new teams. What they will figure out is where FAU and MT will fit in the divisions now. The CUSA scheduling meetings are taking place next week on the 23rd. We are gonna know about this very soon.

USM would know since they might end up in the western division.

I hope not, but I can understand why it might happen.

USM wouldn't move to the West until ODU and UNCC come in 2015. That is if we are operating under the assumption that geography will split the divisions.

I think it might be interesting to see CUSA use a zipper format - maybe something like this. Locked cross division rivals across from one another

American Division......National Division
.....Tulsa.....................LA Tech......
.....Rice.......................UNT..........
.....UNCC.....................ODU..........
.....USM......................Marshall.....
.....UAB.......................MT...........
.....UTEP.....................UTSA.........
.....FIU.......................FAU..........

Each division gets one game against a Florida team (meaning one away game in FL every other year), and two division games against Texas teams (one home one away).

I know there's really no reason to do this, but hey its different and I'm bored at work waiting for this basketball game.

ODU will be here in 2014. They just don't know yet if their games will officially count in the conference standings.

Please, no funky division names. Big Ten's Leaders and Legends is bad enough.

American and National isn't that bad. That's already done in the NFL and MLB. If you're going to go with something other than North South/ East West, why not do what works?
