2013 Sports Fest and WKU

How do the MTSU fans feel about the WKU head football coach being the headliner at the Tennessee Sports Fest this year?

Re: 2013 Sports Fest and WKU

I have never cared about sports fest in the past, so I really don't care who is headlining it either. I can't stand Plaster, so since it was his baby i guess that is why I blew it off. I might go one day, but for now, sports fest is no big deal to me.

GO BIG BLUE!!!!

I will ask the question to you, how does WKU fans feel that their coach is a headliner only because he cheated on his wife with a women almost 30 years younger then he is, wrecked want could have been a great season for a lot of 18-21 year olds at Arkansas and it was so bad no one would hire him but you?

Loving every minute of it because MTSU would have hired him in a split second had an opening been at MTSU.  When we are winning the CUSA tile in a couple of years no one will care what happened in the past,  and yes WKU will be in CUSA.

Wku hasn't been invited yet so we'll see. MTSU doesn't have to hire a one and done coach because we have a coach that consistently gets us 6,7,8,10 wins.

You do realize you have to be INVITED to CUSA first, right? And no one would invite the likes of WKU.

There are two teams I care deeply about. #1 - My MTSU Blue Raiders. #2 - My Auburn Tigers. When it's gameday for either team, it's a happy day for me.

If you think that MT would have hired Petrino, you are delusional. No way Chris Massaro hires someone with that kind of baggage. Massaro also seems to value stability - something a one and done coach doesn't provide.

Looks it's a great deal for you guys. He stays for a year and you guys get paid 350,000 to be his rehab. He stays 2 years and you guys only fork over 500,000 over two years (after buyout is paid).

I really wish McDonald was still at WKU. Watching McDonald and Petrino share notes on the volleyball team would be priceless. Or maybe they could judge the Mrs.WKU contest...that's two votes that wouldn't go to goats...

WKU is going to be the most over hyped team in the country. I am willing to bet they do not have a winning season.

RE: 2013 Sports Fest and WKU

They couldn't even get James Franklin or Stock to do this which says a lot. Franklin just won 9 games with Vandy in a bowl game. Butch Jones has done nothing so he's using this as a fan builder. Neither has Cradle Robber. It's funny that he has to come to Nashville to sell his crappy program. I guess his bridges are burned in Louisville and where else in KY could he speak that would garner more than 5 people? Good luck to you guys.

I'd love to know what parents are really thinking when this sleezebag steps into their home and the fact that he won't be there long enough to see them graduate. Can they really be convinced by a creepy smile and an apologetic heart when deep down, he wants to hit the repeat button?

Franklin and Stock are gettin ready for the spring. Also, the sports fest thing draws nobody there and everyone is in basketball mode. As far as WKU and the CUSA is concerned, Wood Selig, your former AD said himself that you guys wouldn't be a good fit. It could happen though and when it does, we'll just be the same crappy Sun Belt again because of crappy programs like WKU jumping on the boat.

I for one am not jealous of Western. He will probably win some games for the Goat Toppers but he's still a horrible person. I'd rather have a coach of good character who wins 7-9 games per year than Petrino. No one will ever respect the man for his character. Ever.

well,  I tell you how its going.  We currently have the highest rated recruiting class for 2013, which would make the last 3 out of 4 years.

I won't be as dismissive of the idea of WKU being invited to CUSA as some others around here, there aren't too many available schools in the existing footprint who bring more to the table than WKU as an overall sports program. Market may hold them back for a while, it did for La Tech, but MT and Western both have better overall athletic departments than La Tech, and again there are fewer options, so I wouldn't be surprised if the market doesn't hold them back like it did La Tech.

Having said all of that. If you do get invited to CUSA, Bobby Petrino will no longer be on your sidelines by the time you play your first down. Unless you were invited and accepted before the end of the year and are set to start play in 2014, Bobby Petrino will not coach WKU in C-USA, because IF he makes it past one year, he's not making it past two.

Regarding WKU to CUSA, if that's your desire, you better be hoping with every ounce of your being that the Big East survives. If it ends up falling apart and the MWC takes a few of their members and a few CUSA west members, there could be a merger of the remaining CUSA and Big East schools, there could even be a standoff between the two leagues and CUSA coming out on top, I personally do believe that the Big East will survive, which is why I think WKU definitely has a shot at getting into C-USA, but there are less certain about the Big East's future.
