Another Domino Falls... Sort of

Boise State has decided they're staying the Mountain West instead of leaving for the Big East as scheduled. I would suspect this means schools like San Diego State and Air Force will be sticking around as well. This could be really good or really bad for Middle in the long run.

You can read the story here.

Does Boise have to pay any money and will SDST have to pay if they decide to not go?

Both Boise and SDSU have to pay $10m to leave the BE even though they haven't even played a down yet.

Not correct. SDSU can leave without paying anything if the Big East doesn't add another team west of the Rockies before July 1.

Despite some of the reporting it's unlikely Boise will have to pay. It certainty won't be $10m. Both Boise and Houston had  clauses that allow them to break the contract if revenues generated from TV did not cross a specific threshold. The Big East can argue Boise never allowed the TV negotiations to play out, but Boise will argue the projections weren't coming close. Will likely be settled out of court how much, if any Boise, will have to pay.
