Seems like a pretty good hire. Thoughts?

Seems like a pretty good hire. Thoughts? Proper link HERE. I'm not sure why Scout has such a hard time knowing what should be hyperlinked automatically, but dammit all it's obnoxious.

Thanks Kellen, sorry I saw that after I posted it and I am not Your Company's Computer Guy by any stretch of the imagination. Ha :)

This keeps in line with their fans brainwashing that they are the "next Boise State".

Honestly it's not a bad hire. That guy was a big name a few years ago at Boise State. He did what Manny did and took the normally rock solid job at Texas. Of course Texas has lost nine games in the two years he's been there - which is NOT the norm.

He's never been an HC at this level so you really don't know. He does know offense though.

- Passing offense - 265 yards per game (40th nationally)
- Rushing offense - 176 yards per game (48th nationally)
- Scoring offense - 36.08 points per game (24th nationally)
None of these numbers are particularly fantastic, but it was good enough for eight wins. Granted that conference doesn't know a whole lot about defense, so you would expect a team as stacked as Texas to put up bigger numbers ...

It is awful. That's not entirely fair. Their downtown area is really nice:

He'll have a challenge in front of him next year with all of the seniors on this year's Arkie State team. So they'll have a coach for more than one season with him, I think.

No not really, you guys were the better team. I guess what get's most of us is that the majority of your fans think ya'll are close to becoming the next Boise. The fact is you have had 2 decent years, you have an athletic department that is paying bills with a discover card but yet many of you think you should be in the SEC. I will give you credit, you guys did a great job getting butts in the seats this year but it looks like everyone has checked out due to only selling 3,000 bowl tickets thus far.

That tends to happen when you've had two coaches win over the fan base, assure them they're staying put and then jump at the first opportunity to leave Jonesboro behind. The funny thing is, stAte fans should be thrilled with things, but based on ticket sales/ board chatter they're dejected as can be. Middle Tennessee fans should be furious after going out with a thud and then getting shut out of a bowl, but the C-USA announcement and potential immediate exit has folks buzzing.

Re: Bryan Hairsin - Next A-State Head Coach
Good grief the bowl game is still a month away and the tickets only went on sale a week ago. I dont understand why it "gets most of you" that the "majority of us" thinks we are going to be the next Boise State, which we don't BTW. We simply are excited about our football team. What's wrong with that? As far as paying bills with a Discover card..if that were true, why would you care? All I can say is I hope they have a Visa too cause that Discover is bound to be about maxed out and we still got that 23 million dollar football complex to pay for. As far as "many of us thinking we should be in the SEC", that's not true either. We are proud of our team that's all. And you can trash us all you want but i can tell you this not only do we cheer for our team but we also cheer for any sunbelt team that plays a team from another conference. The fact that MTSU got bowl snubbed was so wrong after the year they had and i hope they have a great season next year.

That is fair. We just had to bust your chops a little bit. The stAte board has busted ours for many a year. dsuchan wrote:Good grief the bowl game is still a month away and the tickets only went on sale a week ago. It's not so much the game as it was the small handful of trolls that came over to our board and talked a lot of dirty smack... not even good natured ribbing, but flat out obnoxious behavior. I'm sure most stAte fans are great folks, but a few bad apples is what left us bitter.

The worst are those that come around "after" the game. ULM was pretty bad, too --- and they've never done anything but pull the conference down. RE: Bryan Harsin - Next A-State Head Coach
In the history of the Sun Belt, Louisiana Lafayette playing in the suburb bowl is the only school to sell more bowl tickets through the school ticket office than ASU did last year. Back-to-back trips to a game 7 1/2 hours away that requires the kids missing the first day of the new semester of school isn't easy. Yet sales are ahead of last year (I still say we come in under last year).
As to Texas has lost 9 games since Harsin became co-OC, that's true, but they lost 7 games the season before he took the job. In five of the 7 losses they scored three or more TD's. Their defense has been giving up 25.7 points per game since he arrived. The year before he arrived the offense averaged 23.75 points per game and since then averages 31.9 and that's with Mack Brown failing to extend offers to how many great QB's over the years.
As to the next Boise. ASU's attendance this year was the same attendance Boise posted in 2000, their second 10 win season in FBS.
