Strong Turns Down UT

Story

UT has to move further down the list!

Wow.

It will make very little difference when it comes to things that actually happen on the field, but it sure will be interesting to see if the fan base rallies around whoever is eventually hired. If not, Middle Tennessee has a chance to win over some fringe fans with a conference move and a lot coming back.

Re: Wow.

Now Taggert's name being thrown around as a name of interest for UT. No way that's gonna happen but he did interview for the Wisconsin job.

Wow. I imagine he'd work well at a program like Wisconsin, but I'm surprised they're going after him.

RE: Strong Turns Down UT

The tables are turning Erik. We've had a better coach than Dooley. No one of any real worth wants to coach there and it's for a few reasons.

However, Petrino is just sitting there. He's a slimebag but he would win with them and would do great with Bray. Some people would say no way but UT would win major games with that guy. More than Strong and Fedora. If he doesn't have the affair, he's a major get. Jim Leavitt is another viable candidate. Kirby Smart might be another on the list. IMO, they should have made a play for Malzahn.

I'm loving this BTW. It's fun to watch a fan base like UT's implode when they don't get who they want. What's even more laughable is that they think a Bob Stoops, Jimbo Fisher, Mike Gundy, or Charlie Strong would want to leave their programs to go to a deflated UT. They think they are still on that level and that's funny to me. They aren't there anymore. You would need a former UT or Tennesse guy who would bleed orange to go there and make a difference.

Clay Travis was talking to people yesterday who confirmed that Hart was on a plane to Louisville and how Strong was not at practice. He sounded giddy and was basically saying that this is gonna happen. What will be his mood today? Hahahahaha

RE: Strong Turns Down UT

It was funny listening to the radio yesterday in Chattanooga. The guys on air for the local ESPN radio are huge UTK homers. They pretty much know nothing about any other college football team in america. It was funny, because they finally came to the realization that they and other UTK homers were the only ones that thought that UTK was a top of the line program for which anyone would want to coach. I thought they were gonna break down and cry when they finally got that through their tiny little brains.

This one is even better...an MT Alum's response to Ainge's apology to MTSU fans:

Trevor Bentz @ TrevorBentz @ ErikAinge3 I’m an MTSU alum and I don’t fault you - I’m all vol Retweeted by Erik Ainge View conversation Hide conversation

I ran, in my opinion, one of the best defenses in MT intramural flag football history. I'm surprised I haven't gotten a call. That said, I'll go ahead and withdraw my name from consideration given the laptop upgrade I was given this morning at work.

They really do need to look at Watson Brown or Gary Rankin.

Clay Travis is starting to make a lot of money for being what you call a prick.  He knows what he is doing.

I don't think making a lot of money precludes you from any negative criticism. Granted I'm not a huge fan of the word used in this particular situation, but just because he's profiting from it doesn't make it not true ...

My point is he loves the negative criticism.  I just find it comical that there are many that hate him but listen to him every day.

Ah. I'll give ya that one. That seems to happen everywhere, though. I'm not sure if people really don't have any other options or if they just love a villain.

RE: Strong Turns Down UT Post Rating (1 vote)

Clay Travis's niche, or whatever you want to call it, has worn out its welcome with me. 3HL's big draw is they bring on a "who's who" or sports personalities every week. Forgive my language, but I don't give a $hit was Erin Andrews thinks about UT football. 3HL is "The Jersey Shore" on radio, just a bunch of fluff appealing to the lowest common denominator.

I don't always agree with Plaster, but I do like that they try to focus on several different local topics, and not just a 3 hour version of "Vol Calls". And I'm starting to listen more and more to the morning show on the game as well. They regularly have Stock and KD as guests.

That being said, I absolutely love the meltdown that is going on in Knoxville. If they are the Top 15 job that everyone with orange sunglasses say they are, then they wouldn't have been turned down by a Big East and Big 12 coach.
