WTH???? What could Tulane possibly offer them other than being in N.O. Wow. Makes no sense to me. Big East = new CUSA

Their announcement should be that are now going to pay fans to show up to watch them never win a game ever again. Sheesh.

The BE gets a great academic school and that is about it.  I guess Baseball is decent also.

...and East Carolina fans go on suicide watch. Actually, some of their fans are saying they'll be invited next week. One of these days all of these schools are going to realize that the money isn't going to be worth it. Can't wait.

Any team that has lost 7 straight games to Memphis should not get anything.

They also avg. 16,079 for 7 home games so attendance does not matter in all of this.

RE: Tulane to the Big East

ECU, I totally get. Hell they should've been invited many years ago. They average over 45k in attendance a freakin game and are actually located on the East Coast. Tulane? No way in heck should they get a spot. I really think Tulsa would have been a better grab than Tulane.

Do people still want to go to CUSA now? I don't see how we don't get invited now. But I really don't know if it would be worth it now. What kind of money would we make?

If ECU goes Benson better be on the phone with Louisiana Tech AND Southern Miss. The C-USA is crumbling and the Sun Belt has never had this much momentum. I guess we'll find out just how capable he is soon ...

Also, I've been on the get out of the Sun Belt bandwagon for a long, long time. At this point, I'm starting to shy away from that purely because the two likely landing spots (C-USA and Big East) have diluted themselves down to nothing.

Re: Tulane to the Big East

Tulane has been on the Big East's short list for well over a year. It's really getting harder and harder to envision how the Big East remains viable. I don't expect Boise and San Diego State's commitments to hold.

Agreed. I'm not in the know on these sorts of things, but at some point I imagine watering down the product THAT much has to negate the number of television sets you're adding.

Re: Tulane to the Big East

I wonder what buying your way out of a conference in a football-only situation looks like? Seriously, with all of these moves, Benson has a real chance of taking the leftover names from other conferences and making the Belt one of the best non-BCS conferences in the country overnight.

RE: Tulane to the Big East

The rumor a few weeks ago is that Boise and SDSU were already considering staying put in the MWC. I really hope they do. Boise is gonna get attention no matter what conference they're in. The Big East really does nothing for their school or fan base. The money can't be that much more.
