Kilgore Tweet

@logankilgore: Thankful for a great win last night! Wish we were playing at Troy this weekend. Can't beat that atmosphere from their student section!!

Im not sure if he is trying to motivate the crowd to be more into the games or if he has a genuine disgust for the home team crowd.

RE: Kilgore Tweet

Maybe both, but I'd say more the former. I know I feel both ways a lot so I can't fault him if he does.

Think about how the Troy players would take that too. Here's a guy saying he would rather be playing them at their house. That will fire them up

Yeah, just saw this.....not sure what to think. Can't say that I can argue with him but probably not the best approach.

Re: Kilgore Tweet

Do you blame him either way? I'm a graduate from MT and die-hard TRUE BLUE through and through. Our home atmosphere is a joke. I've been to most of the games this year and our team feeds, even thrives, off of the atmosphere and a hostile crowd. Just look at the home vs. road records. Unfortunately, Logan might be pushing fans away but why not try this approach, only one game left.

Re: Kilgore Tweet

I may be a minority of one, but glad to see a fellow student calling his peers out.  For way too long we have given the students @ MT a pass.  It's too cold, it's a busy weekend otherwise, UThug is playing @ home, we don't win big games @ home, blah, blah, blah.  The only student body more apathetic than ours is the newest member of the 'Belt next year, GA State.  At least here in ATL you can argue students have a bazzilion other things to do.  In the 'Boro, you can't walk your sorry A-- a few blocks across campus and watch D-1 football for free?  In the middle of the afternoon, and still have your Saturday nite free?  Sorry, I don't get it.  Never have, never will.

RE: Kilgore Tweet

Until students get in the habit of getting into the game, they need to shut down the Grove at kick off. I bet on any given Saturday there are half as many students getting their party on in the Grove as there are enjoying the game.

I like this approach. It certainly won't hurt. Hope there is some serious marketing this week on campus.

The grove hasn't been near as full this season. Something to do with the wet blanket running Greek life now ? Not sure if that's true but I had heard something along those lines.

RE: Kilgore Tweet

That was the case at the start of the year but both of those people "resigned" aka shown the door.

I think this is a poor decision on Kilgore's part.  Although he is right about our attendance this year it is not his place to go after fans.  Maybe if THEY didn't go 2-10 last year and lose to McNeese the attendance would be better.  Like we always say attendance is reflective of winning.  The student section will be small Saturday, its a given.  I just don't see why he would go out and do this.  Focus on beating the team that has owned us since '06 and not how many people are watching you...just my 2 cents.

Maybe if the team would show up when there actually is a good atmosphere they would see it more often.

Re: Kilgore Tweet Post Rating (1 vote)

The lack of support this year might have to do with how the team performs when we have a bigger than normal crowd. Our two biggest crowds this year, McNeese (18,690) and ULM (21,067) were both losses that really never gave the crowd much to cheer for. Last year, our two largest crowds were losses as well, Ga Tech (30,502) and WKU (23,307). Guess what happened in 2010? The two most attended games were losses (Minnesota and Troy).

It seems like this team has underperformed every time they actually have fans at the game.

If he is calling out MT fans then I think he should keep his mouth shut and focus on being the QB.   He didn't have a very good second half yesterday.   If he plays like that next Saturday we will get beat.

I agree, he needs to focus on other things. The ones following him on tweeter are going to be there anyway.

Maybe he's just being sarcastic in saying that their fans don't phase him.

I doubt it; he said in the press conference last week that it doesn't seem like our fans get excited for conference games like other Sun Belt teams do.

I have no problem with him thinking this, because our attendance has been terrible, but I don't think he should have tweeted something like this.

Fans have more than shown up at home over the years only to see losses.   Our attendance this year is a reflection of previous home performance over the last two years and then we opened the year with the McNeese loss.

You have to win at home early and when it matters.   I expect about 15K at the game.

Maybe butts in the seats, but I think announced attendance will be more around 13k.

He loves that stadium so much he must remember what happened at the end of the game last season. A little more then two minutes left, decent field position, the ball and game in his hands, got into their territory, into field goal range for a possible tie, and threw it right to them.
