My niece is an ole miss diamond girl who worked the first game that y'all won against ole miss. Wherever she sat while she worked the game their were 50 something age men , ragin Cajun s who spit on her and her friend and yelled obscenities at them the entire game. I know this is just a few but that is absolutely low down and would hope some of you more respectable fans would put a stop to that if you see that going on tonight.
I have to tell you your niece extremely exaggerated her experiences because I was taking photos on the side of the dugouts right next to them at all three games. Now, I will say that there were some fans that were very loud standing right behind them that went after the players and Coach Bianco constantly and would occasionally holler at the girls to get balls, which they weren’t allowed to do during the game. I’m sure that was not a very enjoyable experience for them to have fans screaming right behind them within a few feet all night. And I’m sure they did hear an occasional profanity behind them during games, for that language I make no excuses. But they were never spit upon at any time I was in the area next to them taking photos, because had I observed such behavior I would have called security over to escort them out of the stadium. Several asked to take photos with them; I asked them to tone it down because they were coming off very intimidating to these young girls. This was not a place for any Ole Miss fan, supporter or ball girl to be placed because I could see that the girls were intimidated. But at no time did I observe anyone saying anything inappropriate to these girls or spit on them.
