FAU win Most Satisfying

FAU win Most Satisfying

The play Elfrid Payton made to win last night's game allowed us to enjoy what I think was the most satisfying victory of the year.   The great majority of close games have not gone our way this season and it was especially gratifying to get one in which the shooting percentage was a little off.   For those who have not gone to many games due to the struggles, you may be interested to know that the 2000 or so who regularly go seem to appreciate what they see.   The team fights hard, appear to follow their coaching instruction,  and it looks like they support each other.  They are just outmanned inside in every game and that is the reason for the disappointing record.  If you have not seen Elfrid's winning shot,  try to find a replay and you will be impressed. Either the Channel 3 or Channel 10 websites may have it on their replay of last night's sports.   I am sure Travis Webbl will have it on his RaginCajun access show tomorrow night and that is available on Channel 3's website sometime Tuesday.  Elfrid's play is even more impressive when you consider how much effort he had to put in guarding the conference's leading scorer most of the night.   He was exhausted at game end but still had the heart to make two free throws and a big basket.  Hopefully I haven't jinxed him with this post as I said some good things about Bryant Mbamalu following Sunday's game against ULM and he has struggled the last two times out.  If Elfrid does poorly against Troy on Thursday night, blame it on me.

Maybe this will translate into a couple of big crowds for the last two Cajuns home games, especially the West Ky game next Saturday.

Destin I hope you are right but I doubt last night's win will help attendance.  People who have left won't come back until they are confident the Cajuns are true winners once again.  Middle of next year is the earliest that can occur.

You're right, Mike. You and I will be there...but 3,500 is about all we can get this year. If they begin next season with som wins, then momentum will build and we might get crowds in the upper 4,000s...and maybe even in the mid 5,000s by season end if that winning continues.
