Playing without Bryant Mbamalu and with only seven scholarship players dressed, Louisiana out hustled, outgunned and outmanned first place Arkansas State 61-56 before 3,040 at the Cajundome Saturday.

Now THAT was a fun game to watch. Considering that we played ONE junior...and the rest were, I believe, 6 freshmen and a sophomore...that was an impressive win. And to do it against butt hole Brady made it even better.

Didn't make the game but it sounded like a major league performance by the Cajuns via JWalker's radio broadcast. Especially nice after the tough loss last Thursday and losing earlier to ASU so badly at their place.

JW said Brady has never won in the Cajundome.

In the nine guys who played last night; 5 were freshman (Long, Wronkowski,  Shepherd, Soto, and Barnett),  2 were sophomores (Payton and Leblanc), and two were juniors (Moore and Lazare),    Leblanc and Lazare are walkons so we won a game with 7 scholarship players available.  Shooting was off but effort was outstanding last night and this may turn out to be the best victory of the season.  If Mbamalu can't play for the rest of the year,  we probably won't have the firepower to pull out many more victories.   Consider last night we played without our three most experienced off guards (Mbamalu, Brown, and Thompson).   I was not very optimistic when I saw Mbamalu's hand in a cast but the guys proved me wrong.  Let's hope they prove me wrong about the rest of the year as well.

Listening to Wingerter tell that story and seeing his eyes get wide was hilarious.
