Boise Game

Boise Game

Cajuns falter down the stretch to lose 63 to 57.   Again, not a surprise for a young team on a long road trip.  Here are a few key things I noticed in listening to a small part of it and reading about it.   Long only plays 16 minutes and scores four points.  We get out rebounded 40 to 27.   The rebound nos. are probably directly related to Long playing so few minutes.   Also, we miss 11 shots in a row late in the game with Mbamalu going 2 for 10 overall.   Again, the foul trouble Long was in relates to this as there is no one inside to throw it too and he is out of rhythm when he comes back in.   The young man will need to play a lot smarter on defense and avoid cheap fouls.   On the positive side the team made of 12 of 14 free throws and played good defense most of the game.  Also, Boise had more turnovers than the Cajuns.  In the post game,  Coach seemed pleased with the effort but disappointed at the offensive execution at times.  We are supposed to be a better shooting team than a year ago but that has not been the case in two road games.   At some point they will be more confident shooting the ball on the road but I don't know how long that will take.   It may go until late in the season.   Next chance they get is at New Mexico State on Friday night.   Maybe they can get their confidence back against SUNO at home on Wed. night.  which will help them prepare for the next trip.   Of course there will be few people at that game since it is the night before Thanksgiving.

Re: Boise Game

Boise just played at Michigan State and lost by only 4, 74 to 70.    That they kept it that close (they actually led some on the second half) is a surprise to me as Michigan State is a team that usually does well in the NCAA Tournament.

RE: Boise Game

Michigan State lost freshman guard Gary Harris (16 ppg) with a shoulder injury early tonight against Boise State. The McDonald's All-American is expected to miss at least two weeks. That means Harris wouldn't be available when the Cajuns play the Spartans on Nov. 25.
