Maryland and Rutgers to Big 10: ESPN now reporting

This will begin to blow apart the BE...and may give Uconn a new leach on life:

Here is latest article from ESPN...indicating this may be a real possibility.....expansion rears its ugly head again..... The University of Maryland is in serious negotiations to join the Big Ten Conference, sources told ESPN.com on Saturday. If Maryland goes to the Big Ten, Rutgers of the Big East is expected to follow suit. The addition of Maryland and Rutgers would give the Big Ten 14 members as the league gears toward negotiations on a new media rights deal when its first-tier rights expire in 2017. No date has been set for an potential announcement, though it could come as soon as Monday. http://espn.go.com/college-football...hts-talks-jo in-big-ten-conference-sources-say D iscuss

While I'm fine with these two joining, I'd rather see Uconn over Maryland.  hopefully you guys land somewhere better in this round of expansion.

If the Bigten was smart, they would see the $$$$$ the NYC market could offer. It makes me sick, but UConn will end up in the acc before the Bigten.

It's only a matter of time before UConn goes to the ACC/Big East 2 as backfill for Maryland, followed by Temple as backfull for the probable departure of Florida State and UMass as backup for Clemson.  The ACC will have an improved New England presence with these moves.

Welcome to the ACC (hopefully)

Don't know how ACC could actually upgrade from Maryland to UConn, AND get b/n $20M and $50M in buyout money but I think we are about to get that.

And, though this Miami fan loves football most, holy sht at the idea of adding y'all to Duke, UNC, NC State, Cuse, Pitt, ND, etc.
Ummm.......I'm an Iowa fan.  The Hawkeyes aren't going anywhere.

Well "us all" (read: Big East) took y'all (read:Miami) years ago when y'all really didn't have much to offer in the "us all" league.
Y'all flourished in the "us all" league. y'all haven't flourished that much in the ACC.
Should UConn be accepted in the ACC we would bring much more to that league than y'all.

No idea what triggered that response by Yonick. Most UConn fans have a tremendous amount of respect for Miami athletics and academics. I hope UConn, UofL, and Notre Dame all eventually join and stabilize your league.

My response was triggered by a previous Miami poster stating he wasn't too thrilled to see Y'all, meaning Pitt, Syracuse & possibly UConn entering the ACC. Inference being these FB programs suck.
I just reminded him the time the BE took Miami in when they had little to offer then. I respect Miami, but that poster apparently doesn't respect many of his former league colleagues.
