First Up----SURPRISE!!!

Danielle Ballard goes to LSU!!  I've had her on my wish list for months to be in my "ideal class", and nobody even had us in the running!  Great combo guard, who can play 1 or 2 with most in the class

Congrats!! You must be so excited!

LSU was not even listed on Hoopgurlz's tracker (Auburn TigersUCLA BruinsOle Miss RebelsDuke Blue Devils,Rutgers Scarlet Knights).

Do you think your new coach made the difference or were Van and his staff mostly responsible?

I'm sure if she was interested in ucla it was because of Nikki and her moving to the sec sealed the deal. I've been wondering where her and whiteside (ga tech) would end up for a while, being from Tennessee. Their teammate Nina Davis is going to be a player for the class of 2013 as well.

Thanks tnvol; I foolishly failed to put 2 + 2 together re: UCLA & LSU.  Too busy dreaming about the commitment possibilities!

Next one is Danaejah Grant to Clemson. Grant is #50 in 2012. Clemson now has 3 players in the top 100 for 2012.

Grant is from Piscataway, NJ, hometown of the lovely Asjha Jones and the not-so-lovely RAC.

Does Clemson have a new staff? They seem to be getting some quality recruits to their program. Good for them!

I want to see UCONN get a ticket punched.

I am wondering who the de-commit is? Maybe a TAMU?? They signed about 100 guards??

Yes they replaced Christy McKinney last season. This will be the second season for new coach Itoro Coleman.

Actually, this was the time that Xylina said a decision might be forthcoming--after the summer AAU season. It might also be a logical time for Diamond. I hope she enjoyed her experience with the UConn players and commits. Everyone seems to like KML.

I dont think so.  Kenny Kallina reported that the de-commit was from the Big 12!  Didnt specify as to who or what team.  I assumed TAMU, but who knows??

I can not begin to imagine it is Diamond. I posted a
very recent article where she stated she has not even begun to come up with a list of schools. She states she "has not been feeling this recruitment thing.". IF she verballed right now, I would not put too much stock into it as she has self proclaimed to not have started to look at achools. I don't look for it to be her.

Itoro had done some of the good recruiting at PSU for Coquese Washington.

I don't either, but I also wouldn't take anything a blue chip recruit says to a recruiting service as close to being representative of their actual thought process.  Kids say all kinds of things for all kinds of reasons.  My guess (with no factual basis to support it) is that DD will make a decision sometime next spring.  I would be perfectly content to be wrong on this.

Additionally, if she's truly not feeling the recruitment process, she may decide to end that process sooner in the hopes of eliminating some of the speculation and putting it behind her.  But I've learned not to spend too many brain cells worrying about the psychology of these kids.  It'll drive ya bonkers.

RE: Commitment News Coming from Hoopgurlz--maybe for UConn?

I've had Davis on my radar as long as I have Ballard.  I actually looked at Whiteside to pull a "hat trick", but she's too small on the wing for us---if you're gonna be that short you have to be a true guard with the lineup we have, and the our needs

Re: Commitment News Coming from Hoopgurlz--maybe for UConn?

It would be nice to get a verbal from Diamond, but I think its way to early for her. My guess is that UCONN Fans just might get some good news from the X Girl, at least I hope so. If we get the X Girl, 2012 recruiting in all probability will be finished. Geno and company can then turn their attention to 2013. This seems to be a very strong class, so maybe UCONN can get three or four quality players.

Thats her second committ from the class.  She already has a great PG in Mackenzie Calvert coming for 2014.

I also hope we get word on the X-girl but I would be ok if she stayed in South Carolina and played for Dawn Staley.

Also have word that Louisville picked up a top 100 recruit for 2012 but not sure who?

Exciting time for the recruits, players, coaches and especially the fans!!

RE: Recee Caldwell to Baylor

IMHO it is a huge disservice to these young kids to pressure them to commit do early. My daughter is a very good volleyball player, looking at D 1 schools, and there I absolutely no way she is mature enough to make such a huge decision , this young. And mind you, she is pretty mature for her age.

These years in high school are so formative. They are really just beginnin to come into their own, know who they are and what they want. I would highly, highly discourage my daughter from giving a verbal commitment to anyone right now. It will be curious to see if this verbal holds 2+ years down the road.

Courtnee Walton. She was on campus yesterday on an unofficial visit. No word out of the Walton camp that I can find, so I am curious myself. Ranked 41st, 10th as a Wing.!

I don't care who gets Alexis Jones as long as it isn't "The Evil Empire".

Calvert is a speedy player that can play the 2/1, great defender, who always liked baylor.

Caldwell is a true pg, who can score with an elite shot, and USA u16 pg this past summer.

Both are in San Antonio, TX.

If Jones committs to Baylor, we can finnaly focus on forwards (4), wings (3), and a post player (5/4).

Do you think Jones will end up at Baylor?  I hope so, but if now where does the state of Texas think she may end up?

Grinds is going to be a junior.... time to look for a 6 8 replacement or Baylor will only be okay in three years

Eric, PLEASE tell me you're joking...the same team with those two, Jones, and Sims!!!!  Let's share the wealth a little for Pete's sake!  I think it's still between them and Texas tho.  I would love to see her scoot a little bit East to LSU, but I agree---anywhere but the evil empire...

Griner's class is huge.  Pope, Griner, Williams, Chandler, Hayden, Madden and Washington.  hell of a class.  a ton to replace.

Clemson? ...

you must've been thinking of Clem, son. Clem only has a men's basketball team, and that team has the fans who rank #1 in the US for harrassing opposing team players that foul out.
