Did I Really Hear This?

Did I Really Hear This?
Near the beginning of the UC/X game, I thought I heard the ESPN announcer say that the plan was to play the game at USBank for two years, but X says if things go well this year, they may play it next year at X.
Did I hear this accurately? If so, WTF?
UC should never play at Cintas again. Never. Ever. Never. Never. Never.

Re: Did I Really Hear This?
That would be complete bullspit. I was at the game and Xavier literally didn't even come close to selling out their allotment. UC section was packed and Xavier failed to live up to expectations. If they want to pull that crap end this rivalry.
EDIT: Apparently there is an agreement in place that when the US Bank phase ends, whether it be after this year or next year, the next game will be at UC regardless. Good news there at least.

Re: Did I Really Hear This?
Also, Andy Katz wrote this,
"The crowd was fairly evenly split. Xavier fans and Cincinnati fans were divided from midcourt to the left and right with one side mostly in blue and white and the other clad in red and black."
I don't know if he was at the same game as I was but UC's section was completely packed where as XU's section had about 8-10 sections with absolutely no one in them in the top level. I seriously can't believe that he wrote that and can consider himself a real journalist.

Didn't catch the beginning but I did hear the announcers mention near the end that when it returns to the campuses it would first go back to UC.

Re: Did I Really Hear This?
It should stay at US Bank. XU can do all the spin they want about having the game back on campus but if UC (Mick) does not agree to it, it is not going to happen.
Tell XU the game will be at US Bank Arena or there will not be a game.

Re: Did I Really Hear This?
As long as Mick is the coach the game will never return to Cintas. He would not subject his players to that environment ever again. XU has shown time and time again that they can't control their fans and their fans can not control themselves.
The arena was not 50-50 split. Katx must be red/green color blind if he thought it was split evenly. Maybe 35-65, at best 40-60. No way 50-50.

RE: Did I Really Hear This?
From the brief post-game interview it sounded like Mick had no problem playing the game at USBank in the future, but also pointed out it's not his decision to make.

I noticed the attendance was below capacity, but on TV it looked filled. And it definitely sounded like a UC crowd much more than an XU crowd.

RE: Did I Really Hear This?
Heard part of his post-game; he said he would prefer to play at US Bank every year. Said that this game is Cincinnati and this is the best place to play for the whole city. Or something like that.

RE: Did I Really Hear This?
I wouldn't worry too much about Katz's description. He was speaking in generalities, and it was a relative split compared to the home and home situation. The UC crowd was great, and very energized. Hopefully it spills over to bigger numbers at home. I wasn't a fan of the neutral site, but last night convinced me.

It looked 'electric' at times...didn't it? Early 2nd half and Rubles dunk for sure. Was wishin' I was there. I agree...hope it spills over to 5/3.

Seats are comfy, $32 bucks for a loge Row B upper level. Sound system is good, mixed drinks, beer, all available. All good

RE: Did I Really Hear This?
This is what struck me as strange. For a fan base that generally packs the Cintas Center, where were the Xavier fans for arguably the biggest game of the year? I say keep the game at US Bank so no ones vaginas get hurt. To me, it's the right way to do it. Split it 50/50 and call it done.

RE: Did I Really Hear This?
It's really pretty nice on the banks. A Plethora of parking, bars, food, entertainment, lots of cops. I had fun. --------------------------------------------- --- Ghostdad wrote: coloradobuck wrote: This is what struck me as strange. That's how I heard it on radio, but not sure if mic location for the broadcasters could affect that. I think if you talked to Mick and Chuck Machok, they would tell stories of how the verbal abuse was REALLY at XU and thus it makes sense now to have it US Bank Arena. Plus as Terry Nelson said, there's much more to do after the game downtown to have a beer or some food and talk about the game/keep the party going.

Xavier fans are nasty people. I went to a game there once, will never ever go back.
