RE: OT: Tennessee in a lot of athletic debt
I think Lyle is going to find out that years away from being an upper echelon program has hurt Tennessee more than he may have realized. You can win at UT, but it will be tough. I still don't think Butch Jones was a good choice for them. Ironically enough, I think Tuberville could have pulled them from the fire, but not Jones.

Read this article on another site and was just going to post it.

After the way UT stripped down our coaching staff before the bowl game, I have absolutely no sympathy.

The previous AD was a good man. But he was in way over his head... in that job. Its embarassing the mess he left across the board in that athletic program.

It is one thing to say the HC must come, but to call for the entire staff to come is revolting. I can't think of many other situations where a team went into a bowl game without their head coach or their offensive and defensive coordinators. This last team did not get enough credit for winning the Belk Bowl under those circumstances IMO. Anywhere else it would be a national "feel good" type story.

Don't get me started Clifton DON'T GET ME STARTED Butch was right about one thing before leaving: Our story is definitely not being told. I am at the point now, where I am going to sever ESPN from my way of life, and I expect to be very happy for doing so

Lemmi! I sense a growing pessimism in your posts. Hang in there man! We all need each other....sort of.

It is crazy. After the run this program has had the last several years this should be such a happy time. Instead it's wrought with worry that we are about to lose everything we have built. I believe we are close to a better situation. But the waiting and concern has taken so much of the joy out of what should be a historic high point in being a Bearcat fan.

My optimistic happy face is back But, it seems as though the Big XII is entertaining just about every option but us.

The fear of everything crashing down on us is what is causing all the fear. If UC had been an also ran the past eight years I am guessing there wouldn't be so much angst. Nobody wants to go backwards and the current landscape, if unchanged, doesn't appear to have any growth for UC.
