Impressive official visits

Impressive official visits

This weekend UC was scheduled to host 4 star tight end Travis Johnson from Tampa. (Number 12th ranked TE in the Country) Claims we are in his top 4. Any word on the visit? Offers from everywhere including ND and OSU originally.

3 Star Wide Receiver Rodney Adams was also scheduled for an Official visit on January 11. Adams was previously committed to Florida. (Other sites claim we are in top 3) Any word?

3 Star RB Lorenzo Woodley will officially visit 1/19/13. Selected as team USA RB for 2012 under 19 National team. Claims UC is the leader. Offers from everywhere including Big 10, Big 12, SEC ACC. Loves Coach TT and Coach Gran.

3 star CB Boaz Joseph from Weston Florida is scheduled for UC Official on 1/25/13. Other sites claim he visited UK last weekend, will visit Nebraska next weekend, then us. Also had offers from Georgia, Wisconsin and more.

Very impressive IMO.

They're all impressive, but I sure would like to land Joseph. Kelly and Jones liked their 5'9 corners, but TT likes the 6'1 and 6'2 guys. He already landed Tyson and Doston in quick order. Joseph as well would be awesome.

RE: Impressive official visits

you are welcome. I felt like we needed some good news regarding recruiting and I am hopeful that Scout can follow up regarding the visits themselves. personally, I am more interested in these visits and with the 2013 class than I am about 2014 offers listed on the premium site.

That is going to be the game of the year at the Nip. Tickets are going to be very hard to come by. We beat UofL and we get instant credibility nationally especially the power conferences.

Great looking list. Thanks for the update and great topic. Unlike these other guys that keep posting CRAP about UK... No one cares!

Hope this topic can stick around until signing day too. I'd love to land Johnson... I had my eyes on him a week or two ago and it'd be great to have him step in basically instantly for Kelce. Keep em coming!

From Lance McAlister on Twitter,

Tubs says 10 recruits we on campus this past weekend and 14 more scheduled this coming weekend.. Really moving along.

I usually bash him on Twitter for not being a loyal UC fan but every now and again he puts out some useful information. At times, I feel like he'll talk bad about UC but if he is on the phone with Tubs, he's all about them.

Anyone have any insight on where Wouldard ends up? Seen he was at UK last week, they offered and if Scout is correct his interest went up. Would hate to lose him to BC, Duke, UK, UConn... Since were way better than those teams :)

I also heard the interview via the World Wide Web.
Lance handled the interview shockingly well.
I also thought Coach's comments regarding all the B.S. recruiting controversy were spot on.
Basically that not every kid fits every coaches system.
That letting them know now keeps a young man from being stuck in a no win situation.
Also said the guys that aren't coming to UC are good football players... and will land somewhere else.
Basically that if they were good enough to get UC offers they will be snapped up by other schools.

Here is the thing, he is right.
I doubt any of those kids will have much trouble finding a D-I scholarship..

Re: Impressive official visits

This topic has really gotten me thinking more and more about the whole coaching turnover issue. My opinion had been that teams looking to hire a new coach should not be allowed to talk to current head until after the bowl season is over. However, looking at the recruiting turnover that happens; the later a team hires their new head coach, the less time these players that don't fit into the new coach's system have to look for a new destination. I dont know what the answer is; maybe pushing back national signing day as well, but I think eventually the NCAA is going to have to put some type of restrictions or timeline in place.

Good stuff y'all on the Lance interview.  Wish I woulda been able to listen.

Moving the signing date back and making the bowl season a dead period are the only things I know of to keep coaches in place.  Don't really think the NCAA has any interest in either to be honest.  Even with that, these coaching changes in other sports...outside of the recruiting window...only cause coaches to call signed players and tell them they can show up if they want but they'll never see the field.  Happens a lot more than people know.  Heck, it even happens when there isn't a coaching change sometimes.

I'm assuming all these recruits have grade issues since they are considering UC?

Doesn't have to be a coaching change for scholarship offers to be changed:

Then again - this is Lane Kiffin and USC we're talking about...you never know!

They weren't projected to be Fulmer Award material, so sPitt didn't want them since that's the only place they're still competitive. wink

None of the big schools seem to like Woulard. I asked about him on the Tennessee site, FSU site and on some of the other SEC sites and all of them basically said none of the actual coaches are high on him like the "recruiting experts". I dont know if UC has any interest in him or not. He doesn't have much of an offer list for being rated as high as he is.

I'm assuming you won't be on here long if you keep that up.
