Kelly On The Move

Kelly On The Move

According to NFL sources via the Bleacher Report website, Brian Kelly interviewed for the head coaching position with the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday.

So much for the "DREAM JOB" gig with the golden domers. After getting totally humiliated against the Tide on Monday, this news will have ND fans at the edge ready to jump

Re: Kelly On The Move

Brian never stated ND was his dream job, media types stated that not him.

Brian has a disdain for recruiting, in the NFL you pick the players the players do not pick you.

This could be nothing more than interviewing to get more money for him and his assistants out of ND.

Interviewing and taking/getting a job are two different things.

"I think when I took the job at Notre Dame, I think I said it was a dream job," Kelly said Saturday.

"Kelly recently called coaching Notre Dame his dream job, but he wouldn't be the first to explore his options perhaps even to get a raise to stay put."

“That was all that was on the TV in the Kelly house,” Kelly said after leaving the University of Cincinnati to sign a five-year contract at the South Bend, Indiana, school. “It makes today seem like a dream.”

Ron, Ron, Ron!  When you are shown to be wrong and you don't admit it you only look stubborn.  It's okay to be wrong. You've been wrong many times and didn't even know it! Embrace it!

According to Cardinal no one means what they say to reporters, or the reporter miss interprets and puts words in the interviewees mouth, so if you are using what is said to reporters as your basis you are the one in the wrong.

Re: Kelly On The Move

I even remember reading a story where BK recounts when he and his wife first drove onto the Holy Site in South Bend for the first time after getting the job and they both broke down and cried because they had finally made their dream come true. Wish I could remember where I read it, but I was so caught up in their moment and as too emotional myself. Point is, I've yet to come across a truly ethical coach. Dantonio really tried, but alas we are all human and are hard wired to always strive for better. Not necessarily a bad trait in its own right. Probably wouldn't want a coach who wasn't always wanting more.

Re: Kelly On The Move

Sometimes dreams turn into nightmares.

Go to ND message boards and you will read the same comments UC fans were making 3 years ago, "he won't leave", "he will fail at the Eagles", "he just wants a raise", yada, yada, yada. Per ESPN Kelly is going to Philly for a second interview this weekend, the first interview probably took place in Miami. Going for a 2nd interview probably not a good thing if you are a ND fan.

You would figure that someone would wise up and realize that the most appropriate contract to offer Kelly is one of the three-year variety.

Regarding dream jobs... There are two tragedies in life: Not getting what you want and getting it.

RE: Kelly On The Move

I usually never agree with him, but Ron has some good points in thread.  Even when Kelly was here, I had read things that indciated ND was certainly a dream situation, but Kelly has also aspired to coach in the NFL.   A man can certainly have and reach two dreams.

Re: Kelly On The Move

Jaguars have fired their head coach.

How wonderful it would be IF Jacsonville hired Urban Meyer as they are more than likely going to sign Tim Tebow. What a reunion.

I can only imagine the screams that would be coming from Columbus.
