Tuberville is a Great Hire

Tuberville is a Great Hire Post Rating (4 votes)

I seldom post on other's sites, but I want to congratulate you on the hiring of Coach Tuberville. I know him personally as his son and my grandson were teammates on the same high school football team and I had conversations with him often at the games and other functions. His is not only a good coach, but a good man as well. He did an excellent job at Auburn and things went rapidly downhill for us when he left.

Thank you for stopping by.  Just watched his remarks at the press conference covered by local television. I had never heard him speak before tonight, but he has what our university needs in a head coach at this point in our history.

Thank you Waverly. Always been impressed by the Auburn faithful.

If a good man is a man that recruits kids to a school then leaves without as much as a goodbye...then yes he is a good man. He did it to Ole Miss now to Texas Tech. It was a classless move in '97 and again today.

Here's another "attaboy" from an Auburn guy. Additionally, I lived in the Greater Cincy area when I was younger, right across the river on the KY side... I could see Riverfront Stadium from my bedroom window, and would walk across the bridge to Reds games as a kid. I still have standing orders for family in the area to bring me Dixie and/or Gold Star Chili when they visit me down south. I still love the city (and miss WEBN's annual fireworks), and I'm happy for you guys. Tuberville is first class, an excellent CEO coach with an eye for talented assistants. He's going to give you the best recruiting classes you've ever had.

Really, two years after he left we won a National Championship.

Sounds like a compliment to me!  Built the team that won it all...said team was then torn apart by successor who was subsequently fired.

Thanks!  Feelin' better by the minute!  tongue

You know, I kept hearing people say how great Skyline was, and I didn't remember it that way. Now, I still get Dixie's stuff a good bit... either I'll order it or have family bring it down. But I asked my sister to bring me cans of all three chains this past year, and had a little Cincy-style chili dinner for local family down in Alabama. And still, to me, Skyline isn't as good as the other two. Individual taste, I guess. I had Dixie first when I was a kid, and it's always been my favorite. I don't get up there much anymore, but when I do, I make of point of getting to the original Dixie shop in KY. Before he grows up too much, I want to get my youngest up there for the fireworks and so he see some of the sights (stuff like the museums at Union Terminal).

You know, if I close my eyes and relax, sometimes I can still smell the food cooking during the Labor Day fireworks, with the smell of metts and brats across the streets with all the people moving about, buying t-shirts and beer. There's nothing like it down here. The closet you'll get to that kind of atmosphere? A college football game with all the tailgating down here. We do that better down here than just about anyone.

Re: Tuberville is a Great Hire

Ole Miss Rebel here... Tuberville is an excellent hire.  He won in both of his jobs in the SEC (Ole Miss and Auburn) and will be an excellent addition to the Cincinnati football program.  I have no doubt that he'll do big things there.

I thought that Tennessee might hire Tuberville before the Butch Jones announcement.  This is a steal hire for the Bearcats in my opinion.  Best of luck in the future.

I don't disagree with you on much, Card, but this is one. It's all about Camp Washington in the chili category.....

Yeah, Tuberville is a great hire - for the school that is losing him!

We'll get an orange juice can to coach and do a better job than that fool!

Best of luck with him!

Yup, highest profile coach I recall being hired at UC, any sport.  Now lets keep an eye on recruiting.  Should help offset the conf problems.  Big 12 for my money.  Any cranes around Nippert yet?  Or.....Deck corryville and build there.  Kills 2 birds.
