Butch picked up by Purdue private jet
According to Brandon Saho, don't know how reliable a source that is but he says, "Butch Jones has been picked up by the PUrdue private jet in Cincinnati as of 10:45 a.m. this morning, UC fans nervous." If this is true, oh boy.

Re: Butch picked up by Purdue private jet
Here's Purdue's GLORIOUS history http://mcubed.net/ncaaf/teams/purdue.shtml8-7 Bowl Games One 10 Win season in their illustrious history. Good luck with Urban, Pat Fitzgerald, Beilema, Dantonio, Hoke, Ferretz, etc. I think Butch will be looking for some more MACtion coaching opportunties sooner than 2016 if he goes that route. I can live with Tennessee, Auburn, Arkansas. But, PURDUE? Honestly maybe this is more telling about our ACC / BIG 12 prospects in the future.

RE: Butch picked up by Purdue private jet
Having a hard time grasping at why anyone would leave UC for the Purdue job. Whether we like it or not if he bolts for Purdue it's a serious indictment of the status of our program. For now I'm going to assume he is enjoying being wanted, who wouldn't, and at the minimum he is making his assistants more money.
Side note: CBJ getting a new job within the area would make recruiting for the new guy even harder. That would be three coaches in a row that opened Ohio high school doors only to leave, stay close, and keep the new pipelines to themselves at their new drivable locations

If this is true and Butch leaves, how do we find a long term answer?
We did it with Mick. Any ideas?

Saho now just reported, "expecting Butch Jones to be announced as Purdue's football coach this afternoon, he's on campus now in West Lafayette."

RE: Butch picked up by Purdue private jet
I'm now starting to think this is very true. Goldandblack.com just said, "butch jones has arrive at purdue for interview."

Re: Butch picked up by Purdue private jet
I hope WHIT is preparing a major counter offer. Purdue is going to have offer 2+ mill a year to get him. Can they pony that up?
Can we go to 2.25 mill a year? Promise of an upgrade in next 3 years? He could just be leveraging for a better deal here. I don't blame him for listening to PURDUE offer. But, he's not winning a championship there. Ever.

RE: Butch picked up by Purdue private jet
I hope this is just something Butch is doing to try and get a better deal outa us but who knows. There is now a picture of Butch getting off the plane on twitter to confirm he is in fact there. I think it's about time to start looking for our next head coach.

RE: Butch picked up by Purdue private jet
I think it's been known for a few days now that Butch would interview with Purdue today and Colorado on Monday. Guess we'll know soon if there's real interest or just him angling for a payday from UC.

RE: Butch picked up by Purdue private jet
I feel like I saw it written all over his face yesterday. And yes, it would be a serious indictment of where he perceives as our program's future. Purdue shouldn't be anyone's 'dream job.' But he was set to take the Marshall job before he took ours. Guess he sees the world a little differently.

There's photographic evidence on Twitter of him at Purude. Doesn't mean he's hired. He's just getting wined and dined...

He went out of his way to talk up the University of Cincinnati yesterday following the game, almost like he was trying to proactively convince folks that he wasn't leaving because he didn't like it here. Yes, it would be an indictment.

Yes, it would be an indictment. Yeah I kinda got the vibe he was talking up the university and saying you guys will be fine without me. To me he came off as distancing himself from the UC program in his post game interview. The fact that we can't get any type of facility upgrades approved and in the face of conference realignment, where we are left on the outside looking in, in my opinion has me thinking he is gone.

RE: Butch picked up by Purdue private jet
Is there really no one who wants to stay at UC long term? If Butch leaves then the "family" stuff was just a way to trick kids to come to Butch's school where he happens to be at at the time. He had me fooled. But you don't just leave your "family" when things look more difficult. If Butch stays then my faith is renewed. Guess we'd find someone else for another 3 years, but this is getting old.

Well, you just restated the 'knock' on him when he came from CMU. We may look at that like, 'What did you expect?...from MAC to BCS conference.' But he sold the same stuff there too.

I'm guessing he might really like to stay at UC. But UC's uncertain conference situation is problematic.
If only the GaTech and UVA to the Big10 rumors prove true and they move tomorrow and the ACC acts fast to replace them...

Hear is what I know. Just talked with a person who covers Purdue, he is on campus right now and saw Butch and his wife get off the plane and walking around campus with AD. He also said he is hearing Butch is to visit Colorado on Monday if no deal is made today.

Walking around another campus with wife...getting picture snapped at airport...
To me, he is narrowing his choices quickly. Either 1) take another job very soon or 2) make a long term commitment to UC and stop the nonsense. Otherwise, I don't know how you look kids and their parents in the eye as you recruit them. This cannot go on, year after year.

If our conference affiliation wasn't such a skidmark right now, I would fire him today. This kind of thing happens every year with a number of coaches, but to make it this public? As you've stated, recruiting will be impossible if he stays. No credibility. At this point, I will be more disappointed if he stays. We'll either be stuck in the BE or whatever the conference ends up being or we will be in the ACC. Butch wants a fresh start, no harm in letting him have it. And Whit would be next. I'm sure this isn't what he signed up for either.
