Congrats to George Winn for being named BE Offensive POW!

From the espeen blog:

"George Winn earned Big East offensive player of the week honors for his performance in Saturday's win over Syracuse, and he is our player of the week as well.

Winn carried the ball 30 times for 165 yards and three touchdowns, and he added a passing touchdown as well. He finished the game with 202 yards of total offense, and he is now the Big East's leading rusher at 112.1 yards per game.

Not bad for a guy tasked with replacing the reigning conference offensive player of the year in Isaiah Pead."

CBJ added some good quotes as well.

For a guy who was in some ways an afterthought until Mr. Pead left the building.... and someone who the coaches planed a 3 way split in carries....
George Winn has been a heck of a find.
Proud of this dude.

Winn is one of most complete players I have seen in some time. Last year he planted NC State Linebacker Audie Cole on his a s s,
on a devastating block which resulted in a Pead TD. I knew he would have a good Senior season.

Winn is a beast! Outside of the fumble, RDA4 is turning into a pretty good back too...but what happened to Poteat?

Poteat is 3rd string behind Winn and RDA4.

poteat has had some nagging injuries.

now granted poteat was a much higher rated recruit than winn, but poteat can look to winn as inspiration.

guys who are buried on the depth chart as youngsters can still end up being an important part of the team before their eligibility is finished. hopefully poteat keeps on working and being a team player....his time can still come.

I'm not adding anything new, but 3 or 4 times a game I comment that I love the way George plays the game. His attitude is infectious and I have no doubt that his example provides great leadership to the younger players. He deserves a huge amount of credit for UC's success this year and for turning what was to be a RB's by committee into a one man show plus RDA IV. Kudos!
