Munchie BENCHED! talk here

Munchie BENCHED! talk here

Like him and root for him real hard but we are used to a bit more production and kill on our offense. Watching the Georgia highlights, their QB made 2 or 3 throws that ML just can't make. Excited to see the Kay results and Lu out there. Two headed monster? Try em both out next week and see what happens? Give it straight to Kay the senior? I'm sure BJ will still play ML in spots, but I'm ready to see Kay's arm more.

I think Kay will start. I think Jones just said "They'll battle it out" because he doesn't want to throw Munchie under the bus.

Re: Munchie BENCHED! talk here

The crowd had really turned on Munchie, and I hate that.  The booing after 'Cuse dropped his arm punt was the loudest I heard the crowd all game.  I don't know if Butch was feeling forced to make the move.  Munchie will play again; UC will need him at some point.  I'm more than ready to see what Kay can do.

BTW:  A ton of recruits were near our section, and I don't think UC put its best face forward.  Lite crowd, kind of dead (cold, wet, and miserable) crowd, booing the qb crowd; when many of them were leaving, they had a get me out of here look on their face.  Granted that was after the rain had picked up.  On a not-completely-unrelated note, I hate noon kick-offs.

Munchie will most probably continue to start because overall he gives UC the best chance to win.

Based on recent events, he also gives us a better than average chance of losing.  And we may well have lost yesterday had Jones stayed with him.

The definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over, expecting different results.

I'm hardly a boo-bird, or one quick to throw Munchie under the bus.  But the offense looked worlds better with Kay, and even Luallen, in there.

I can't sugar coat it.
There is a segment of our fan base that is really embarrassing right now.

...and where the heck were the students yesterday?  Glaring emptiness in the end zone on TV.

Winning next week is a MUST, whether it is Munchie or Kay. We need the house rocking when RU comes in.

In a huge way.
We still have a chance to win the league, ALSO beat Rutgers and run the table if we don't get the BCS bid we have a shot to go to Orlando.
Not a bad runner up spot.
Don't get me wrong Charlotte is great.... But Disney is better.

It was glaring emptiness in the end zone from Section 119, too. mad  I know we were coming off 2 losses, but they were close, against good teams, and we  had a BEast rival in town.  Don't understand the lack of interest from the students, even taking the poor weather in to account.  Geez - I hope we have a much better attendance showing from everyone for Rutgers.

RE: Munchie BENCHED! talk here

Im not saying its an excuse but since i was there in the 90's, the noon games were notorious for low student attendance. As a DAAP student i hated noon games because i wanted to get my work done during the day so i could go out saturday night. Its not an excuse either way but im never surprised to see empty student seats during noon games.

So I thought at first...ok...it's a noon game, it will fill in. But it didn't! Mighta got worse even as game was still in doubt. Very disappointed to see that.

Butch subtly referred to the lighter-than-shoulda-been crowd in the post game show yesterday. Said something like, 'Thanks to the fans that did show up to see a 5-2 team.'

UC showed GREAT on TV vs. Pitt. As Butch said that night, 'It was a 4 hour advertisement for the University of Cincinnati.'

Yesterday...not so much.

Yes, Card I agree, but I also feel that some of this CBJ brought on himself. His insistance that Munchie would start and nothing else would even be considered was frustrating to me (and I'm a UC die-hard). Although I would have gladly been there for every snap if I didn't live down here in the Zone I understand where a lesser fan may have thought that standing for 4 hours in the freezing rain watching a stubborn coach, an inaccurate passer who fumbles frequently and a probable loss are not what I want to experience today. And frankly, I wouldn't have blamed them for it.

Guess he is just doing that to tick off fans.
Perhaps he is playing him because he wants to lose games.

I think it was the right move to sit him today, but he obviously thinks he is our best shot to win this year and more importantly the next.
I still believe he is pointing to '13....

It won't be.  Noon kickoff so many students will still be asleep, and too many folks have kids in basketball, soccer, lacrosse, gymnastics, cheerleading, band, choir, and origami.  And of course getting ready for those always important HS football playoffs. Those that don't have kids will make excuses about the weather.

And lets face it.  The team is playing just about the level everyone expected with a weak schedule.  Other than Wynn and RDAIV, no signs of greatness.  Sure the Cats will make a bowl, but not quite a march to an undefeated season.  The loss to Toledo hurt, but losing to UofL and falling effectively 2 games behind the Cards definitely curtailed the enthusiasm for the band wagon fan.

As for me, I have been in attendance at every game this year.  Great season compared to the history of UC football, but just a good season compared to the last 10 years.  Because of so many distractions, Cincinnati fans seem to only respond when the season is 'Great'.

RE: Munchie BENCHED! talk here

i hate to put this on Munchie because its really about the fickleness of the fanbase ,but i think the crowd is likely to grow again if they win with Kay. Right or wrong i think alot of people have either decided to skip games or turn off the TV because of how maddening and scizophrenic Munchie's play has been. He's not fun to watch. This isnt Ole Miss or Auburn with a century of history and supporting the team because its all they have to root for. People are already tired of CBJ telling us how great Munchie's work in practice was. I could have sworn i heard whispers of Allen Iverson when CBJ announced Munchie as the starter this past week.

There are plenty of weapons on offense to make the team very exciting with a competant consistent QB

I shoulda said this earlier, but its never too late...

There is NO GOOD reason for those fans to boo any player on that team including Munchie.  You DON'T BOO COLLEGE players...period.  You can think all you want that they are 'men' now, capable of processing it in a positive direction...but the truth is many are not.  18/19/20 years old.  Think back about how short of being able to handle crap like that you were at that age...he!!, who could even take it now at our ages.  Their families didn't need to hear that either.  It was totally...embarrassing to UC.

Its bullcrap!

We can debate all anyone wants that these kids are getting paid (scholarships), but the truth is they are still amateurs, relatively immature emotionally, trying to learn/get better and trying as hard as they can.  Every one of them.

To Munchie...thanks for coming to school at UC.  Thanks for helping us win a share of the BE title last year.  Thanks for blowing up a year of eligibility as a freshman to fill in at WR when we were decimated by injury.  Thanks for all that time meeting fans and signing autographs.  Thanks for that miraculous win over VT...a 'must win' in this program's climb.  Thanks for not shooting those fans the bird yesterday...something they deserved.  You're a class act Munchie.

To those idiots booing...you are classless and you made UC look bush on TV yesterday.  You are...an embarrassment to us all.

Part of me agrees with you, but what's the alternative - fans don't go to the game at all. Is that really better?  If UC didn't charge for tickets, made fans sit through tv timeouts, transported fans back and forth form their homes ot the Nippert, etc. I would agree with you.

Furthermore, is it only me or does "SPORTS" have to do something about the length of games.  Four hour football games are ridiculous.
