Walter Stewart's football career is over 

According to Bearcatlair Walter Stewart has a congenital defect in his spine and will be done playing football.  I might try to hold out all judgement until more sources confirm but for now it doesn't look good.

Just awful news for him. It looks like CBJ will add him to coaching staff going forward.

Assuming this is true, very sad news for Walter Stewart.
He seems to be a tremendous young man.... that is the saving grace and will allow him to succed in the future I believe.
But no doubt its a sad day for him.

this is ashame for walter stewart.

 

maybe he can help coach like reuben johnson.

hell of a lot of talent on the sidelines in those 2 kids.

Very sad and disappointed for Walter to read this.  My very best goes out to him.  Others are right...he is gonna be successful because of the kind of person he is.  Good things ahead for him!

I hate to hear anything bad that happens to athletes but when its a fellow bearcat, my heart goes out to him!

Wow, awful news. I feel terrible for him. Hate to see a guy with NFL potential have that bubble burst by no fault of his own.

One thing to be thankful for though.
If he has had this issue since birth.... THANK GOD that nothing life threatening or perminant has happened to him before now.
Because its obvious nobody knew about it.... In a sense he has escaped a potential time bomb.

Saw this thought you guys might want to read it.

--- David Pollack knows a thing or two about neck injuries derailing a career. The former first-round pick saw his career stopped after one season when he suffered a neck injury with the Bengals. He tweeted this out:

"Had a great convo with WalterStewart, gr8 young man with a bright future. God never closes 1 door w/out opening another"

And this, also: "Sept 17, 2006 I was told my life long dream wld come to an end. Life didnt stop & actually is better now then it ever was"

Thanks Vol. Thoughts and prayers for Walter Stewart. He will be missed on the field this year.
