RE: CMU labor negotiations
Many great points. Bottom line is they have the right to picket (more like demonstrate) anywhere they wish. If you find it distasteful, just ignore them, walk on by and say nothing. If like myself you look into all the items they are negotiating for and feel they have some merit you can still ignore them or give them a nod that you understand their position.

RE: CMU labor negotiations
I personally feel that public sector unions are unconstitutional for two reasons - first of all they hold taxpayers hostage to their demands which is tremendously un-american, and secondly, they are government employees, and in this day and age there is plenty of legislation, rules, laws, etc. on the books to protect public sector employees. My thought is if you don't like what the employer is offering, look into another public sector job or perhaps try your luck in the private sector. I am no union lover by no means, but if I owned a business and the employees tried to tell me how to run it, the door would be shown to them very quickly, I can assure you of that.
Sorry to offend anyone, but to be honest, if Michigan were a right to work state we would be better off. Look at where the growth is occurring in this country and it is not in the union (closed shop) states, in fact they are seeing flat population growth, to declining population growth (Michigan). I was happy to see what Scott Walker did in Wisconsin, and hopefully this type of leadership will migrate to Michigan so we can be a state of folks working and not have the notoriety of being a welfare state (which, it is, sad to say).

I agree. Or maybe the smack talk forum or something.
BW can you move this before it gets any worse?
This is the CMU football forum. I don't need to hear about other posters positions on labor negotiations or their political affiliation or their view on this.

I think the point is that a picket line will cause a distraction to game day activities. It's the wrong venue for the faculty to air their position, and I think that fans are allowed to discuss the item...

Have at it. I'm sure that will increase public support, not to mention the positive effect on student relationships if classes are cancelled and the fall semester gets moved back to, say, the December holiday break.
