CMU vs. WMU Predictions?

CMU vs. WMU Predictions?

If Hawk learns anything from NIU tape he will throw the kitchen sink at Randall and let the others beat him.

If that is effective it will be lopsided in favor of the good guys from the Zoo.  If not the mighty Broncos will still win by 4pts in a nail biter.

I definitely agree that Western will guard Randall like glue and dare the freshman to beat them.  The Chippewas should come out shooting the ball much better and the key, IMHO, will be how many of those 3-pointers find their mark.

My prediction: CMU 72, WMU 69

Re: CMU vs. WMU Predictions?

CMU historically plays WMU tough in Mt P and often gets the better of them, regardless of who is the better team.  You also seem to be well coached this year (congrats on that).  But then this years young Bronco team has pulled a lot of surprises.  And even Hawk seems to be coaching better.

I suspect a very close game.

WMU 67 CMU 65

Hawk DOES seem to be coaching better right now! Look for a substantial rebounding edge for the Broncos tomorrow.

Re: CMU vs. WMU Predictions?

I saw this years version of Chip Basketball at the EMU game with CMU70 & Midlandchip.  I was stunned at the difference in size between the 2 teams (I have never seen a D 1 team so small).  As the game progressed CMU 70 told me it was their worst game of the year.  My take was that EMU was just bigger and equally athletic.  Coach Davis has done a spectacular job with the talent he has been able to assemble with zero time to recruit.  He should win coach of the year in the MAC and be considered for the same nationally with the wins he has RIGHT now.  These guys play their hearts out but winning consecutive games during the MAC season will be very difficult to do.  They leave it on the court.  As far as the WMU game they are going to be much bigger than us and have more talent then EMU.  If we can make it a transition game we stand a chance but if it becomes a half court game I don't see how we can hang despite the effort these guys will give. We need to give Keno a couple years recruiting then we will see which program and coach has the upper hand.

Keno has shown he is a good coach (Great recruiter in such a short time period, good game manager) thus far. However, there is no way we should expect him to be a magician!

If we can hit the three we will be okay.  And I agree with Pricee, we need to get the transition game going big time.  I still think we take this one but will give it back in Kalamazoo.

So far I've seen nothing but thugs in the black uniforms. The circus lettering on their uniforms fit them.

You are what we thought you would be.  As for those thugs, they have the highest GPA of any basketball team in the MAC. cool

Re: CMU vs. WMU Predictions?

Now, now...they've just won their version of the NBA Finals, just like beating us in football was their Super Bowl.  Let Dippy bask in his glory.  Those guys simply don't have anything else to hang their collective hats on.

The fact that Keno had about 9 minutes and 14 seconds to put this team together is lost on their fanbase.  They'll enjoy this win until Coach Eyesore loses a few games down the stretch against teams they should beat. Then most of them will cry, whine, and beg for his firing.  But they're stuck with him.

Meanwhile, Keno won't always have a team full of inexperienced guys when we take on Worstin Michigan.  We'll see what happens then.

Well arrow, I cant predict who Keno might be able to recruit, and what the future holds for CMU basketball.  As for our future we lose one player this year, and played eight freshmen tonight in a game that was rarely in doubt.

Glad we won on the road, let alone won in a blowout.  Honestly, I thought we were very sloppy in spite of the lopsided win.   Hockey team has swept UM two nights in a row before sellout crowds.

If your posts took on this tone more often, people here would be more receptive to having you here.  I know you don't give a chit; I'm just throwing it out there.  Do with it what you will.

As for the eight freshmen, we both know that's a load of bs.  Of those eight, how many see regular minutes?  A few.  You have the more experienced team, and you know it.  I don't know what Keno will bring in either, but we have some young guys that have showed some promise.  I've already admitted that losing Randall is going to be a big deal, so we'll see what happens there.

Good for your hockey team.  Anyone that beats scUM is okay by me.

Re: CMU vs. WMU Predictions?

I never in the world expected that outcome.  It was an old fashioned beat down from start to finish.  We have now lost four of the last five and I have my doubts we will win many of those remaining.  Our early games, win or lose, gave us hope and moderately high expectations for the rest of this season.  We felt we would do okay once we got into the conference but that's not happening.  We have no game in the paint except dribble driving and foul shooting, our outside shooting has disappeared and we have all sorts of problems defending big players in the paint. I don't have an answer but I sure hope Keno and his staff can come up with something.  I'm pretty sure we won't win any games shooting 30% from the field.  Despite all that, I will continue to attend our home games and as a fan I'll do what I can to support these guys.  On to the next one.

And I'm impressed with the ladies.  I just may have to drive over next Thursday and watch them.

Re: CMU vs. WMU Predictions?

I think this is a good time to revisit what everyone's expectations were going into the season.  Winning some non-conference games was nice, but we didn't beat anyone of consequence.  Sooner or later you have to score some points in the paint or going to the hoop.  There is no Trey Burke on this team, and as good as Randall has been he's struggled lately too.

A lot of young guys are getting a ton of minutes.  That'll pay dividends eventually.  Now it's up to Keno to bring in the missing pieces.  We'll see if he can.

Meanwhile, it's a bit soon to give up on the season.  We aren't winning the West or going to the tournament, but a lot can still happen.  As far as I'm concerned, the NIU loss is the only "bad" loss of the season - I don't like losing to Worstern, but let's call it what it is.  They're a better basketball team.

RE: CMU vs. WMU Predictions?

Two very ugly losses in row, and NIU just might be the worst team in the nation and they whipped us at our place.
Size not the whole issue IMHO WMU had a 6'1" freshman who had more than his share of success in the paint.

At the start of the year I said you can't control tempo or run if you can't rebound...NIU and WMU were both pretty young squads too. The transfer kid is talented but also seems to do way too much of his own thing!
