Re: Womens' game tonight

Way too sloppy at the half, I'm sure the girls are getting an earful in the locker room. Western shouldn't be within 2, especially in Mount Pleasant. mad

Glad to hear Coach Keno and President Ross are at the game supporting the team.

Re: Womens' game tonight

Well, this is the first time I've been upset with this team.  They are taking circus shot, throwing the ball away, giving up way too many drives to the basket.  It's like they can't just take the easy play.  They can't take the wide open shot.  They have to drive into traffic, get caught, and then throw it away.  They have to force passes into covered teammates.  They are over playing defense way too often and giving up easy shots/baskets to the broncos.

So, a 4 win bronco team comes to Mt. Pleasant, to play the first place chips.  Broncos have lost at home to EMU, whom the chips burried by almost 30.  Broncos are slower, shorter, and less experienced.  Broncos have a new coach.  Yet, the chips have decided that they can just run up and down and play one on three, circus ball, undisciplined and the broncos will just let them win.

Result.  Chips lead by only two at the half.  Just plain stupid, undisciplined basketball tonight.  I hope Sue rips them a new one in the locker room.

They have to be careful and not get the reputation of playing to the level of their opponent. That's eventually a recipe for disaster. Let's see what adjustments they make in the second half, starting with better shot selection and a whole lot less turnovers.

Much more disciplined in the second half. This team doesn't need to force anything, they have enough talent to win without doing that. Anyway, a solid second half by the women. Always good to beat the Broncos.

RE: Womens' game tonight

Somebody must have got in their faces at the half.  Chips came out and quickly expanded the game to a 10 pt lead with calm, controlled offense and smarter defense.  However, once the lead was established, they just played out the minutes.  The lead did grow to 18 at one point, but not because the chips were that impressive.  WMU just doesn't have the players this year.  Maybe that's why they are winless in MAC play.

WBB tweeted today that they had beaten 3 teams in the top 20, yet they were still not in the top 25.  Look in the mirror, Chips.  It's precisely because of tonights game that you are given much national respect.  You are too inconsistent, losing game that could be victories, while struggling in games that should be blow-outs.  You want top25 rankings; you have to bury people and win tough games more often.

This is your year.  Brandy Baker is leaving.  Jessica Schroll is leaving.  Don't think because you have a couple decent sophomores that the future is brighter.  This is the time.  Accept the challenge to play disicplined basketball and get it done.

What's the word on why Schroll only has one semester of eligibility at CMU? She played 2. 5 years at Iowa State before transferring, it seems like she would have 1.5 years left. She didn't burn a redshirt year at ISU. Does the two semesters of sitting out count against eligibility? If it does, that's news to me.

RE: Womens' game tonight

Just like men's hoops, when you transfer you have to wait one year.  And yes, that time counts against your 5 to play 4.  McBroom is sitting in St. Louis this year and it counts against his time.  The year off counted against Schroll as well.

Now, IF she only played 2.5 at ISU, then when this season is over she will have 4 years under her belt.  If she has no redshirt season, then the year off could be her redshirt year, giving her one more season.  However, most athletes unless pursuing a master pretty much move on upon graduation.

I could be wrong (and it's happened before).  If somebody has the actual NCAA rule let's see it.

Next up is Northern Illinois this Saturday afternoon at McGuirk. 2pm tipoff. The Huskies are also struggling mightily this season and will come in with a 5-11 record (0-3 MAC). Here's to a more clean performance by the Chips. At least we got the win.

RE: Womens' game tonight

I caught just about 4 minutes of todays Akron v NIU game.  NIU has a mean inside player who slightly rolled her ankle in the second half.  They also have a guard that had her fingers wrapped BEFORE she took a pass off of the end of the same hand.  She was almost in tears, but gutted it out.  NIU will show up, they are bigger than Western was, and will play tough.  However, they will be a little beat up and probably not to eager to try and run with the Chips.

Let's hope our women learned from today's first half and don't repeat it on Saturday.

A woman was abducted at gunpoint in the SAC parking lot shortly after the game ended last night. eek
TV is reporting the woman was a student, CM Life hasn't confirmed that yet. They are now reporting the suspect is now in custody.

Not at all a matter that is humorous or should be used for political rhetoric, the woman was raped, the folks that helped after she managed to escape by jumping from the car had the house set on fire. The perp is dead after a extended police chase where he rammed at least two police vehicles and stole at least more vehicle.

RE: Womens' game tonight

I doubt it! I had wanted to post before I heard about the incident that what I really enjoyed last evening was seeing and hearing the real voice of the Chips on PBS and his interview with Keno, but I figured that would be pretty shallow considering what happened to that young woman.

Re: Womens' game tonight

Not that I believe you care one bit , but I was offended as well. A young lady was violated, a family reaching out to help her gets there house burned. I don' t care what your political persuasions are, a comment like yours is classless and out of line.

Re: Womens' game tonight

Please people.  Get over yourselves.  Yes, I care very much about the young lady.  I read the article.  I understand the length that the family went to in trying to help and for their efforts the whack job tries to burn them out of their home.  I spent years worrying about my two daughters and educating them about how to handle just such an incident.  I still worry about them and they are in their mid 20's.

Now if you want to judge me everytime I post, have at it.  We aren't going to agree on what should and should not be posted.  And if my posts gets you upset, maybe you should take to heart more the actions of the man in the whitehouse.
