Thursday vs u of m dearborn
I'm going to be interested in seeing how CMU plays in this game. They've built a reputation already of playing everyone tough and I'm hoping they show no mercy in tomorrow's game. Time to put the finishing touches on the rotation going into MAC play and a high effort game would set the standard for the rest of the season. Any word on Saylor's return?

I'd be surprised to see Saylor anytime soon. He had minor knee surgery from what I've been told. He's going to have to rehab and then get back into playing condition.

This has to be a tough game for the coaching staff. How do they manage this one? We will be playing an NAIA team (lower than Div III NCAA) with a 3-13 record on our home court. What would you do?
I would like to see us use this game as a practice session. Run some new stuff on offense and defense and see how it goes. Let a lot of players in the game. We can't tell the guys not to score but we also don't try to run up the score.
If we play it that way, what do we get out of this game? Not much.
Okay, now someone can remind me of Cornerstone and how they pushed us to the limit a few years ago. That was then, this is the Davis era. Ain't gonna happen.

You set goals before the game. You run and gun to work on getting your conditioning back after the holidays. You don't worry about the score, that's UM-D's issue. You worry about crisp play, rebound positioning, getting people back in rhythm, working the press, making your free throws. It's not going into the record book, so don't worry about anything but your team and getting them ready for the MAC season. WMU = Ship of Fools

All good points. Here's another thought. On defense why not run man most of the game? We are going to be a zone defense team this season (match-up, standard 2-3, 1-3-1) but at times it may be necessary to run man. Why not practice our man defense in this game?

It is an EXHIBITION game. Keno will be trying to give his players an opportunity to get better for the coming MAC season. He placed the game here for that purpose.

Its listed on the MAC digital schedule , but as of right now , it won't come in for me.

82-39 as Keno tried some different lineups late. Richardson got some time at the point. L Weist thru up some shots finally hitting a 3. He's known for his shooting, but had a tough time settling in tonight. OV went nuts with no one from UM/D able to match up. Double double (pts/reb) by Mbaigoto. I believe it was Fowler with 7 steals.
Not a tough opponent, but the fellas got back on the court, ran some sets, took some shots, etc. Stand by for the start of the season - BGSU coming up.

Really. Keno didn't know what he had when he set this up way back when. If he had known how fast these guys would come along he might have scheduled someone a little tougher for the 'scrimmage.' Still, the guys got to run, shoot, pass, etc. Just weren't really challenged at either end of the court. Bring on BGSU and let's see where we really stand. WMU = Ship of Fools

I like the fact that the team played hard , didn't get sloppy , and no one got hurt. The assist- turnover ratio is disappointing , but this wasn't a typical game.
