Re: Enos gets extension
I have NO problems with this. It tells recruits that the administration has confidence in what Enos is building at CMU and will be here at least until he wins so much that some one else tries to steal bim.

Re: Enos gets extension
I would have waited a year.
2013 Chippewas below .500 out the door at .500 and bowl win most likely keep for another year above .500 and bowl appearance extension

Boy oh boy.... Heeke sure better be right about this one. (Some of this stuff kind of makes you want to shake your head and wonder if Enos has some kind of incriminating photos or something! ) I love the way the team finished this past season.... but, I mean, come on.... its one year. He still has a losing won/loss record over the past 3 years. Personally, I would have asked him to get to AT LEAST .500 before even beginning talk of another extension.... Sigh.....

To me, this is about the only reason I would extend Enos. 2012 was great and all, but CMU was a loss away from firing Coach Enos. I trust the AD so I guess I just need to deal with this...

Re: Enos gets extension
So, Heeke is confident enough that he can put people in the stands with Enos at the helm for 4 more years?
I can't believe Obama and Enos start this month with 4 year extensions in their respective jobs.
I would have waited another year.
Looks like Perles and the MSU crowd that run the Little Caesar's Bowl, bailed out their little buddy.
Hard to believe we're going to get 4 more years of Enos.
Big mistake by Heeke.

Re: Enos gets extension
I don't know how this tells the recruits anything at any MAC school, not just CMU. First offer from a bigger school, he's gone. I guess it means CMU isn't close to firing him.

Re: Enos gets extension
If the buyout didn't extend, then its a win win situation kind of.
The team doesn't perform and you want him out, it won't cost anymore money, but if he starts winning, then he can get snatched away with CMU getting nothing.
Not sure of this move.
Does anyone know if anything but his salary changed? Buyout changed?

Re: Enos gets extension
Heeke will be affirmed when CMU fans return to leading the MAC in attendance again. And CMU is back to winning championships, like predecessors w/ 3 in 4 years or NIU 2 yrs in a row.All starts w/ winning the west in his 4th season.

Re: Enos gets extension
If I was Heeke. I would have used that money on the assistant that you just let jump to your rival. I guess we just get used to it. At this point, I think we should just be a little happy for some stability in coaching, for the players sake. Lets just hope Cooper Rush is as good as advertised.

RE: Enos gets extension
with the hiring of George Ricumstrit as our new D line coach, I personally think we traded up! If I mispelled your name George sorry but am glad to see you back on the Maroon & Gold sidelines. Good job Dan and Dave on this hire!

RE: Enos gets extension
A bit of a head-scratcher. If it settles the minds of recruits then I see upside. If the buyout did not get extended then I see upside. If the buyout grew or extended then I merely hope AD Heeke is willing and able to pony up if the need arises. I'm hoping this year's success carries into and through next year and this will be a non-issue. However, if it does not, I am not going to accept Central Michigan stating buyout costs as prohibitive on making a move. I will give due to AD Heeke that he has thought this through and knows his exit strategy should the need arise.
I'm still smiling from the Western Kentucky win...so this won't get me down today.

Chipchi, I don't know who your sources are, but was not aware of the fact that Enos was one loss away from being fired. In fact I was under the assumption that he was going to get next year at least barring anything other than W and L. I feel pretty good a out my sources.

RE: Enos gets extension
I had a gut feeling GR would end up as our new defensive line coach. I noticed, though, he doesn't have any experience with interior linemen. Still, with 20+ years of defensive coaching, he's likely pickup a pointer or two on coaching them.
Say what you will about Enos, he's definitely shown a willingness to hire CMU legacies.

Maybe I missed it, but what has GR been doing coaching-wise? His bio is up on the official football page. He's got strong regional ties, that's for sure. Although I not surprised by GR being hired, and consider it a solid hire, I really was hoping for somebody with some Florida recruiting ties.

RE: Enos gets extension
I'll agree with many others in here. Can't say I'm thrilled about the extension, but if the buyout remains the same or about the same then I don't really care. I will say that it's a little unnerving because to me, this says barring a complete disaster next season he will most likely be back. I'm glad we finished 7-6 and won a bowl game, but if we revert back to 3 or 4 wins again next year I would like to see us make a change. One decent season didn't mend many fences for me.

RE: Enos gets extension
After reading up on this, it was more of a restructuring than an extension. He only got 1 additional year, but got an increase to $285,000 a year. This really isn't significant in any way and he's probably still one of the lowest paid coaches in the country.

Re: Enos gets extension
I'm sure Heeke saw what happened at wmu (unable to get a coach) with the current pay scale around the country. "Name" assistants WITH some head coaching experience are out of the MAC price range. Enos is a good buy and the team has progressed in my opinion. Most importantly he seems to be well liked by both the current team AND Michigan high school coaches for recruiting purposes.
